Today's theme is "Let's give a name to our instruments!"

Okay.

You do that, right Horri?

I've been doing it since a friend gave my bass a name. People name their instruments, right?

There are those who do.

…Maybe it’s just for the sake of distinction.

It may mean more than that. For example, B.B. King’s “Lucille”. Eric Clapton's "Blackie". You can feel the legendary sound and even the romance behind the name.

What about you, Prince? Do you give them names?

I used to in the past, but I don't do it now. Since I have many spectrum 5s, I call them "first machine", "second machine" and so on to distinguish them. What is my main machine now? (Lol)

(Lol)

The name "first machine" is influenced by "Evangelion". But it's also influenced by the fact that Pete Townshend numbered his guitars, and I thought that was cool. If you paint a number on the guitar so boldly, the Roadie will not make a mistake. I wonder if he still does it now (laugh).

Doesn’t Nuno Bettencourt do that, too?

Oh, maybe. He has N3 and so on printed on the surface of his guitars..

But there are various patterns in naming instruments.

Tell me, tell me.

In my case, the first thing I put a name on was my Steinberger. The name is "Booby".

Why?

With Steinberger's "XP-2" model, the "X" was omitted to become "P2", and from there, "Perman No. 2" was associated with the model.

Oh, that's a booby! (Laughs) You like Fujiko Fujio-sensei.

Yes. And the second one is a "Mike Lull" bass that I mainly use for recording.

I sometimes borrow it for the recording of The Captains songs and take good care of it m(_ _)m

This is simply called “Mikey” from the brand name.

It's an excellent piece.

Next is the violin bass used with The Showas. This is called "Ram-chan".

Well, why not!?

(Lol). The names comes from color. The Showas instruments are unified in the color of youth, in short, light blue. But it looks like Ramune, so I abbreviated it to "Ram-chan".

It's like sonic blue. But this one isn’t a woman, right?

Yes, I don’t really feel they have a gender. And the most recently acquired Bacchus headless. I named this from the appearance, because the tiger eyes on the body top are characteristic...

Hey, it's a little unusual nowadays.

So, the name is "Torayoshi".

Ah, Japanese style! But it's nice, because by naming them, instead of saying "let's use Jazz Bass today", you can say "I’ll take Torayoshi with me", or "Mikey, let's go!", or "Booby, are you in a good mood?" and so on (laughs)

You get attached to them.

Yeah, if you think of your instrument is a well-known companion, the way you interact with it will change and the speed of your progress will change! Everyone should give it a try! Yes, and everything?

Is for love!
