We’re in a fun season for outdoor events, but the biggest enemy for PA engineers is "sudden changes in weather," isn't it?
When going to the field, I often encounter situations where we are hit by unexpected guerilla rainstorms in the middle of a live performance. Even if peripheral equipment like mixers are tucked away inside a tent, the essential PA speakers are almost always stacked in "dead space" without a roof.
In such moments, a sight often seen on-site is... the emergency measure of covering them with clear garbage bags, isn't it?
In some extreme cases, I have even seen sites force their way through the event while leaving the equipment exposed to the rain. At a site I saw the other day, sound continued to play while water had pooled on the grille of a floor monitor. I am amazed at the durability of speakers, but considering short circuits, corrosion of units, and electrical system troubles, this is a situation I definitely want to avoid.
"I want to take rain countermeasures, but dedicated waterproof covers are expensive and can only be used for specific models..."
I wanted an item that would solve such worries, so we started carrying them.
They are the CLASSIC PRO Outdoor Covers for PA speakers, the "SOC Series"!

2. You can play sound even with the cover attached
The front cover can be opened using the waterproof zippers on both sides, rolled up from the bottom, and secured with the Velcro at the top. By using mesh fabric for the lower part of the cover, you can output sound while minimizing the impact on sound quality and any negative effects on the speaker (such as the intrusion of water or solid objects).
*This product is not intended for permanent outdoor installation during inclement weather.

3. It's okay even if it gets splashed with a little water
The SOC Series is not a cover meant for continuous use in the rain, but I was particular about selecting high-quality outer fabric so that it will be fine even if it gets splashed with a bit of water!
■ Surface Polyester Fabric Specifications
Thread thickness: 150D (Denier)
W/R (Water Repellent)
W/P 5000mm (Water Proof)
UV 50+ (Ultraviolet protection)

4. Stress-free easy access to the rear panel
The rear cover also uses a design with waterproof zippers on both ends, ensuring ease of operation. When actually in use, you can pass the cables through the slots.

5. Adjusters to minimize slack
Because we prioritized versatility, there may be some slack or play depending on the speaker being used. The SOC series includes rubber adjusters so you can tighten the fit according to the shape of the speaker and prevent it from shifting.

6. Can also be used as a protective cover during transport
Since the sides, back, and top are padded, you can also use it as a cover for transport and storage. (The front side is not padded.)
7. Added a pocket for distance rods on subwoofer models
I have added a pocket on the center of the top panel of the SOC15 and SOC18 to allow for a distance rod socket! There are some models where the socket location is not in the center but slightly toward the front, but I hope you can adjust it accordingly, and also use your own ingenuity to prevent water from entering around the pocket area!

The summer festival season can be considered the real deal for music events. Before that comes the rainy season, which is unavoidable.
For PA engineers supporting outdoor venues, the time spent staring at weather forecasts is nothing but stress. However, if you keep this "SOC Series" tucked away in your equipment vehicle, you should be able to approach the venue with an "offensive stance" even if sudden rain clouds approach.
Protecting your equipment leads to protecting the success of that day's event.
And above all, it leads to protecting the "trust" from organizers and artists.
I hope that the anxieties of everyone working hard at PA all over Japan will be reduced even a little, and that the best sound will resonate.
