Waves' GEQ is a mono/stereo GEQ plug-in that provides the same operational feel as a hardware graphic equalizer, but with more functionality and visibility than the hardware. In addition to 30 ISO bands, it also features high-pass and low-pass filters, a precise parametric EQ bell filter, and an analyzer with real-time display. In addition to 30 ISO bands, it also features high-pass and low-pass filters, a precise parametric EQ bell filter, and an analyzer with real-time display. The GEQ Classic component's EQ uses the same type of Q filter as the well-known British hardware DN series 1/3 octave equalizer, with the filter shape becoming sharper as you increase the gain of the band. GEQ Modern components use a special EQ curve that flattens the top of the filter, allowing you to create a continuous plateau-like EQ curve that avoids the unnatural sound caused by band interaction, a problem often encountered with traditional GEQs. You can set the gain for each band one at a time using the slider, or you can draw the curve all at once using the touchscreen or mouse. GEQ's built-in real-time analyzer allows you to view and compare two sources simultaneously. GEQ is ideal for live sound, of course, but it's also useful for studio work.
