To capture the classic Plexi sound, UA sought out the best examples (a ‘68 Super Lead and a ’69 Super Bass) with ‘laydown’ transformers.
In addition, the “Brown” amp uses a Variac to reduce the wall power to 90 volts, which re-biases the amp to a special hot state, providing the most famous hot rod sound and feel ever recorded.
