Waves Scheps 73 is a 3-band EQ module with rich tonal variation that models the EQ and microphone preamp section of the classic 1073 console, developed in collaboration with world-renowned mixing engineer Andrew Scheps (Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Lana Del Rey, Metallica, Jay-Z).

With Waves' advanced technology, the Scheps 73 EQ faithfully reproduces the behavior of the original 1073 unit and the bands that interfere with each other. It features a fixed 12kHz high frequency, a controllable mid frequency, a low frequency that can be boosted or cut, an 18dB/Oct high-pass filter, and a rare 10kHz midrange EQ that was discovered in the original 1073 schematics but was unavailable and was only available on the rare 1078 channel strip modeled as a plug-in. In addition, Waves' MS matrix has been added, allowing separate EQ processing for the mids and sides.

The modeling of the Mariner transformer, a key feature of the 1073's sound quality, was carried out using an innovative procedure, and Wave has meticulously captured every sonic character of the 1073, including harmonic distortion. The harmonic adjustments were fine-tuned by Andrew Scheps himself to perfection, resulting in beautiful and authentic saturation.

From recording to mixing to mastering, Scheps 73 delivers the warm tone that only a legendary piece of studio hardware can produce.
