Lost in the Digital World SSL E-Channel Reproduction of the channel strips had on the SSL 4000E console developed in 1983 with legendary engineer George Martin.
The EQ section, with high and low pass filters and a 4-band parametric EQ, is known as the "Black Knob" equalizer. The dynamics section features a soft-knee compressor/limiter and expander/gate based on the SSL LS611E, with selectable insert points before or after the EQ section.
Solid State Logic's 4000 Series analog mixing consoles are in demand worldwide. Engineers working in pop/rock music, broadcast transmission, and television post-production are as high rating the flexible dynamics chain of the SSL 4000 as they are the trademark SSL "punchy" sound.
Waves and SSL engineers worked together for over a year to recreate the classic SSL 4000 Series E and Series G sound characters. Those who "mix in their computers" can finally reach the sound they thought they lost when they moved to the digital world.


Features Licensed from Solid State Logic, the plug-ins fully reproduce the channel strips of the SSL 4000 Series-E. All plug-ins include the original equipment.
All plug-ins have an analog=On mode that faithfully reproduces the characteristics of the original equipment and an analog=Off manner that prioritizes clarity.

Precise reproduction of unique SSL sound The SL4000 console was the first mixing desk to incorporate dynamics processing on all channels and a master bus compressor into the center section of the console. With the SL4000's ability to patch the master bus compressor and internal sub-mix to control the sidechain of this compressor, sound engineers have found unique and historic applications for this console technology.

When used for recording instruments such as piano and drums or for final mixing, the innovative console section has opened up a new world of master bus compressors, EQ, and dynamics. For years, workstation users have demanded this unusual flexibility and unique sound. But mediocre dynamics and EQ plug-ins could not produce that unique SSL color.

The Waves SSL 4000 Collection results from a partnership between Waves Audio and Solid State Logic. The processors faithfully reproduce the same EQ and dynamics character that created the legendary SL4000 console. In addition, the interface precisely mirrors the classic SSL console. All of this is built into state-of-the-art Waves software.
