The 5060 Centerpiece is a mixer designed for the 21st century studio by the creator of the recording console. It features custom transformers for lossless connection to high-end outboard equipment, a flexible monitoring system, DAW transport control, and 24-channel x 2 mixing buses designed by Rupert, all packed into a desktop size.
■Key Features New Class-A Topologies The 5060's new ±24V Class-A circuitry delivers flawless signal detail, providing the key to comfort and spaciousness on your mix bus. With zero crossover distortion and unmatched sonic purity, the 5060 is like a desktop 5088. Find your sonic sweet spot by pushing the mix bus and boosting the dynamic harmonics. However, you may need to turn down the master fader to avoid overloading the 2-track output. Custom Transformers The 5060's custom transformers are key to its distinctive sound, with a ground loop-free design. The output transformer provides a traditional sound, while the Silk/Texture control adds just the right amount of "color" to your mix. Stereo Input Channels 1-8 Professional grade 100 mm faders determine the volume of stereo input channels 1-8. Channels 1-8 can be switched to stereo or centered mono signals and also feature mute and insert switches. The insert sends on channels 1-2/3-4 can be optionally assigned as talkbacks. Alternatively, the insert sends on channels 1-8 can be used as pre-fader sends to a multitrack recorder. Stereo Inputs Channels 9-24 Eight stereo inputs have rotary faders for volume control and can be used as auxiliary inputs for stems. Stereo Buss Master A 100 mm stereo fader is provided for setting the volume of the master stereo buss. This fader determines the stereo output level for both the master and bus monitors. It also has a transformer-coupled insert terminal and switch so that you can add a compressor and EQ to the mix bus. Texture & Silk Red / Blue - Texture, Silk Red and Blue Modes A variable control that manipulates the harmonics without compromising the overall sound of the channel, creating an attractive sound. Silk and Silk+ modes are also available to choose between vintage and modern character. The Silk circuit reduces the negative feedback of the output transformer, making the frequency response closer to that of vintage equipment designed by Rupert Neve in the past. The "Blue" mode affects the low to low-mid harmonics of the source material, bringing fullness to the sound. The red "Silk+" mode emphasizes the mid-high to high harmonics of the source material, giving the sound a "shine". Talkback - Talkback Equipped with a talkback system including a microphone. When the switch is pressed, the built-in microphone is activated and sent to the dedicated output at the set volume and to inserts 1-2/3-4 with optional settings. When the talkback switch is pressed, the speaker output volume is temporarily lowered to DIM level. There is also a 1/4 inch talkback remote input for remote control of talkback. Transport Controls Standard transport controls such as play, stop, record, fast forward, rewind, loop, jog/shuttle and add markers that are found in DAWs can be operated remotely via MIDI or USB. When used in USB mode, it is compatible with Mac OS X 10.3 or later, or Windows 7 or later system environments. The transport section operates as a HUI or MCU device. *Do not connect MIDI and USB at the same time. Monitor Source Selection The stereo bus and three external monitor inputs can be selected as monitor sources. Monitor Select Selects the speaker output. The Monitor 3 switch can be "latched" on by holding it down, which is useful for example when connecting a subwoofer for Monitors 1 and 2. Headphone Amplifier Reference grade headphone amplifier with dedicated level control. The selected monitor source is also sent to the headphone output. Monitor Level Set the monitor output with a 21-step precision attenuator. Use the attenuator to accurately balance the left and right stereo signals. Meters The VU meters show the signal level of the selected monitor source in RMS. The peak indicators will light up red when the peak value is reached. DIM DIM is a function to temporarily set the monitor signal level between -6 dB and -30 dB. It is activated when Talkback or the DIM switch is activated. The DIM switch is used to reduce the speaker volume without moving the master fader. For example, you can turn down the volume during mixdown without affecting the master or 2-track output.
