Hello everyone!
Halloween is over and day by day, it’s getting Winter-like. That means, the season is coming… The season for Christmas! Before you know it, the whole town will be shining and twinkling. Santa, let's get a sense of urgency! But then again, the people you want to give the presents to will just give you a “whatever” pass, and you'll be stuck. How about a ukulele for a Christmas present?
Ukuleles basically use soft nylon or fluorocarbon strings, so your fingers won't get sore easily, and there are chords that can be played with just one finger, so it's a very beginner-friendly instrument. If you concentrate, you can play a song on the first day you buy it, so it's perfect for people who get bored easily. So, I'd like to introduce some ukuleles that I personally recommend as gifts!

1. Cordoba / BIA Ukulele
This soprano ukulele is characterized by its bright colors. Cordoba, a manufacturer renowned for its acoustic, classical guitars and ukuleles, has faithfully reproduced the ukulele that appeared in the original Disney Channel drama “BIA” broadcast in South America. This ukulele has a cute design and a great sound, and it's currently on sale at a very reasonable price! The soprano ukulele is roughly the smallest size ukulele, so it is especially recommended as a gift for children or those with relatively small hands.
2. Playtech/ PUK100C
A soprano ukulele with a wide range of colors and a vivid appearance! It also comes with a gig bag, so I think it's a good deal. There's also a version that comes with a stand and tuner!
3. Playtech / PUK402
A concert ukulele with a walnut body. It has a simple appearance, but the bright sound is impressive, and the low notes don't get crushed, so it has a gentle resonance that makes a good impression! It's a model that makes me want to play songs used in Ghibli films, such as “Country Road/Mimi wo Sumaseba” and “Hikoki Gumo/Kaze Tachinu”. It's one of my personal favorites of the Playtech ukuleles. Normally it would cost over 5,000 yen, but right now you can get it for under 5,000 yen!

1. Playtech / PUK400
There are a variety of woods and processing for the PUK400 series from Playtech. There are five different types of ukulele available, including ones with or without armrests and cutaways. They're reasonably priced, so they're also great for beginners!
2. Loog / Ukulele
A soprano ukulele available in 6 different colors. The pop colors are really cute! It's suitable for ages 3 and up, and you can learn how to play with the included flash cards, official YouTube channel and an official app. It has a great sound, and is a great ukulele to recommend.

1. Fender / Zuma Classic Concert Ukulele
This concert ukulele is from one of the classic guitar and bass brands, Fender. The Fender head, the slightly subdued color, the label on the sound hole - it's all very stylish! The fact that there are so many different colors to choose from is also a great point.
2. Fender / Venice Soprano
This is the soprano ukulele version of the one I introduced earlier. In other words, it's a smaller model. It not only has the high-pitched sound of a classic soprano ukulele, but also has a deep low tone. The sound is so well-balanced! This series has more color variations than the Concert Ukulele series and that’s a great point too.
3. Gretsch / G9112 Resonator-Ukulele
This is a rather unusual model, but the sound of a resonator ukulele is pretty much addictive. Personally, I feel that it has a bit of a banjo-like tone. You may fall in love with its mechanical-looking appearance!
4. Playtech / PUB500
A regular ukulele is nice, but how about a ukulele bass? While metal strings are generally used for bass strings, this one has rubber strings. I thought that a rubber tube that bends and sways would never produce a good sound, but when I played it, it had a warm sound like an upright bass, and it really got me excited! The upright basses are expensive, you know? It's a great choice for ukulele lovers, beginners, and bassists who are tired of carrying heavy instruments around! It's amazing that it takes up less space than a bass!
