A long time ago, it is said that people walked 10 to 20 km a day. They walked along mountain paths, the narrow paths between fields, and in the plains to fetch water from wells and rivers. They also worked in the fields, hunted in the mountains. Children also walked to school. At first glance, this may seem like a long distance, but it only takes a little over two hours to reach 10 km. This was how people naturally strengthened their legs.
Since I have gotten older, I now realize the importance of healthy aging. It’s not just about living longer, but it’s also important to live by your own will and use the power of your own body. What makes the biggest difference in healthy aging is the strength of one’s legs. People most likely just want to feel the power of walking and sometimes running on their own two feet even at an old age. This is why people must train their feet and legs. As we grow older as humans, our muscles start to shrink and become weaker. So, if we do not regularly exercise, our backs will become hunched over and we may end up walking with the help of a cane. In today’s automobile-oriented society, no one walks enough anymore. There is no doubt that our bodies are falling into critical condition.
After all, health comes first. Therefore, since Sound House’s founding, we have emphasized health management and encouraged employees to take care of their health. We have included the employee-started tennis, futsal, and basketball clubs into our health management program. We also sign our employees up for the Narita Pop Run, pay the entry fee for our employees, and prepare meals.
I am now the oldest person in the company, but I am currently working with so many employees who will never understand the importance of taking care of one’s health, so I seriously wonder if half of my employees will be dead before I’m dead.
This year, the number of employees from Sound House participating in the Narita Pop Run was devastatingly small due to COVID-19. Only two participated in the half-marathon race. Starting next year, we will be reinstating the mandatory participation in the Narita Pop Run from all our employees. In order to accomplish this purpose, everyone has to get their bodies ready. This is the company that Sound House should be, and this program will be beneficial to all of our employees. Let’s move forward like Sound House to accomplish our initial goals and break through the limits together!
