The average lifespan of companies is said to be 40 years. This means that companies tend to cease their business within one generation from their foundation. Of course, most companies seek to pass on the torch to the next generation in order to keep on growing even after 40 years, and they strive to do so. However, changing generations is difficult. Company management hits a wall and many companies end up closing for good.

Sound House was established in February 1993 as a privately owned company. Then in 1994, the company became an incorporated stock company, so we will soon be turning 30 years old! So then, does this mean that we’ll only have about 10 years until our company just goes out of business along with the rest of the other gone-by-the-wayside companies!? Will we be able to overcome this doomed fate and pass the baton onto the next generations?

Meanwhile, the times have dramatically changed. Lately, I have realized how quickly young people change their styles and way of thinking from one day to the next. Above all, the way young people these days enjoy music is always drastically transforming, and the rapid dissemination of AI-based entertainment is just astounding. Computer games, anime, and esports are all the rage among young people since they have a deep understanding that they can consume entertainment however they like. Videos and social media are the backbone of this trend as an information infrastructure. As someone who doesn’t like video games, I feel rather distant from these latest social trends but I can’t help but feel that these trends will be fatal to me.

Nevertheless, I have no time to dwell on these frivolous things. That’s why I have been working tirelessly, and I believe that a fortuitous future is waiting for Sound House within the next decade from today, and even beyond that. Working hard is my responsibility, and I’m going to fulfill my duties to the end. People would call it ‘grit’ in the past and the basis of grit is ‘endurance’ and untiring ‘efforts’. However, I’m afraid that this diligent way of thinking would not be accepted by the younger generation and it would even be laughed at. Not only is this way of thinking shunned as an old-fashioned idea, but it may also be accused as the root of power harassment. What is this? Am I bullying myself? Yes, I’m putting myself in tough situations! Well, I’m going to quickly get my work done and have a nice glass of wine instead of thinking about such nonsense!
