[T-rex REPLICA] -Delay with a soft atmosphere-

Today, I would like to introduce a delay called REPLICA released by T-rex.

Recently, we have been introducing delays in quick succession. This one is a digital delay, but you can get a very soft delay sound.
T-rex is a Danish manufacturer, and the REPLICA is a delay that attracted attention because it was used by Carlos Santana at that time.

Unfortunately, there is no distributor in Japan now, but I recall that it was sold in Japan for about 70,000 yen at that time.
In addition, there are several versions of the REPLICA, and this time we will introduce an earlier one with the fixed power cord.

In recent years, the power cord is not fixed to the effector, but there is a separate power adapter.
The sound and the thickness of the sound seems to be different when compared to the original product.

○ Advantages of using the REPLICA

• The delay sound is warm and soft at any rate.
  I personally like the soft sound, and since the delay sound does not overlap sharply, it mixes naturally with the original sound, and it is possible to express your playing softly.
  If the delay is sharp, it may be difficult to mix it with the original sound, so it tends to feel intentional or overemphasized.
  Of course, I have music that I want to play intentionally and expressively as well, so I'm not saying that's bad.
• BROWN switch
  Functionally, it’s like a high-cut filter, and can perform simulations like tape echo.
  When the switch is turned on, the repeat sound of the delay gradually becomes cloudy and fades out naturally.
  This is also a fairly usable feature, further emphasizing the soft sound that is characteristic of the REPLICA.
  However, even without this switch, you can get a sufficiently clear and soft delay.
• SUBDIVISION
  When this switch is on with the TAP tempo on, you can set the delay sound to Triplets.
  Normally, if you step on the TAP switch with your foot on a quarter note, the quarter note will be set, but if you turn on SUBDIVISION, if you step on the quarter note, the delay set will be Triplets.

○ When compared with the previous BOSS DD-2

The DD-2 has a warm, clear, thick delay sound for a digital delay, especially in BOSS products.
The BOSS DD-2 is sharper in terms of the sharpness of the delay sound, but the REPLICA is overwhelmingly better in terms of smoothness and softness.
Of course, you need to choose according to how you intend to use the delay and the music you play.
The DD-2 has its good points, and the REPLICA has its good points.

○ Author's general comment

It is often said that you need to have several types of distortion, but you need to choose them according to the music you want to play; the same holds true for delay and how you want to express yourself.
Choosing only one and continuing to use that will let you get to know the effector, which is important, of course, but when recording or pursuing further sound, you need to have many.
This is because a single delay sound changes how you hear the phrase and how it fits the song.
A very interesting music life awaits you if you have many types of delays, such as clear delays, delays that are convenient for live use, and delays that have sounds that can only be produced with that particular unit.
