Today’s topic is “headless”.
Great!
I would like to ask you what are the benefits headless guitars & basses, as you have used one for a long time.
OK. Then, I will list some that I can come up with.
List five!
Well… Firstly it is compact!
Yes! Because it does not have a head.
I use a headless bass, but it fits in a guitar case.
Wow, it is surprising that it becomes that short.
It is also easy to carry around.
I have heard that headless basses and guitars were created so that it is easy to transport on an airplane.
Second! Body balance is surprisingly good!
Really? I didn’t know that.
No guitar neck diving.
That’s right. Because it does not have a head.
Also, the tuning parts are all on the bridge side, making it stable.
It improves the center of balance?
Inevitably, the body balance is better. I think the playability is surprisingly good.
And?
Third! It’s about sound, there are fewer dead points.
Really? Is that true?
Yes.
Because of carbon?
No, whether it is made of carbon or not, all parts including body, neck, and head vibrate, right?
Right.
I think they resonate and, at some points, cancel out each other's vibrations.
That’s possible.
So headless basses & guitars have less resonating points.
For better or for worse…
For better or for worse.
Sustain may be reduced,
Dead points will be also reduced.
Interesting.
It does not have rich overtones like other basses, but I get the impression that all the sounds come out beautifully.
Effects also work well, don’t they?
Another benefit is that they are conversation starters.
Like “he uses a unique bass”?
I am often asked at a band competition about how I tune the strings.
That’s a curious topic.
I am asked even by the audience, not just other performers. It is a good item to start conversations.
There are few people who use headless basses & guitars.
I have 8.
Crazy…
(ignoring) The fifth merit of headless basses & guitars is…
The last merit is?
Portability after all?
That’s it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
Lol
I own one of the Steinburg guitars, and it is highly portable!
Just pointing out the demerits, but parts are difficult to get, yeah?
That’s right…
There are not many parts that are compatible, and they use unique parts, so even the parts with the same specs and class as other basses are more expensive and there are few options.
I have a similar experience with my Tesco.
Also, I think that they sound boring to some people. I think they have both advantages and disadvantages. Some people may think they don't have any humanity.
In that sense, they are too solid, but that, on the other hand, gives them a unique tone.
And ... another disadvantage is that you have to use double ball end strings, though adapters to use normal strings are also available. The models that have been released recently are compatible with normal strings.
Hmmmm. Headless guitars & basses are interesting. Nowadays, not only Steinberg, but many other brands produce headless guitars & basses, right?
I checked Sound House's website and found no headless guitars or basses being sold, but they do handle parts.
Please also handle entire guitars and basses, not just parts.
I think it's a pretty interesting instrument once you get into it, so please try one.
I think it's worth having one! Yes, everything?
Is for love!
