The T60RPmk2ai is the first Made in Japan model in the T60RP series, a fascinating RP stereo headphone listening model that combines traditional craftsmanship and acoustic technology, carefully assembled one by one in a domestic factory.

■ Solid hard maple housing finished with Awa indigo, a traditional Japanese dye developed in collaboration with skilled artisans.
・Each hard maple housing is meticulously dyed with Awa indigo from Tokushima, developed in collaboration with skilled artisans, resulting in a deep indigo color that beautifully highlights the wood grain. Dyeing with "hon-ai," a dye made solely from the indigo plant, takes advantage of hard maple's rigidity, high specific gravity, and the fact that it does not impart unnecessary coloration to the sound. Enjoy solid, deep bass and clear, expansive high frequencies.

■ Internal wiring uses the same 7N-grade high-purity OFC cable as our higher-end models.
・The same 7N (99.99999%)-grade high-purity OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) cable used in our higher-end models eliminates impurities to the maximum extent possible, enhancing transmission capacity, for superior sound quality. The 2-pole 3.5 mm connectors on both the left and right housings not only improve compatibility with re-cabling, but also enhance the potential for improved sound quality. The included unbalanced cable uses high-quality OFC conductors, while a separately available balanced cable (φ4.4: ET-RP4.4BL2Y) is available.

■ Ultrasuede™ ear pads for a comfortable fit
- Optional Toray Ultrasuede™ ear pads are included as standard. They offer a breathable, soft feel and smooth texture, delivering high-quality sound from deep bass to high frequencies. The low-resilience, around-ear design provides a comfortable fit, even during extended listening sessions.

■ 4th-generation RP driver
- RP Technology's fully-driven planar diaphragm driver, developed over 50 years of refinement, now features an increased number of magnets sandwiching the diaphragm and a newly designed printed coil pattern to expand and uniformly distribute the vibration area of the planar diaphragm. Furthermore, the magnetic circuit components have been completely redesigned to optimize magnetic flux distribution, suppressing unwanted diaphragm resonance and achieving sharp response for the rise and fall of sound. The fourth-generation driver, developed by fully incorporating a variety of technologies cultivated over the years, simultaneously achieves improved sensitivity, smooth frequency response for easy monitoring, and excellent transient characteristics. Accurate and detailed reproduction of frequencies from deep bass to high frequencies further enhances accurate positioning and sound field reproduction. As always, the driver is manufactured in-house at our own factory to ensure reliable quality.

Awa indigo from Tokushima has long been known nationwide as an essential dye for high-quality textiles, thanks to its beautiful dyeing results. However, dyeing wood using traditional methods was difficult, and repeated trial and error was required to adjust the dye concentration, fermentation process, and soil preparation. The T60RPmk2ai housing is dyed by hand over many days using "hon-ai" dye made only from natural indigo plants, with repeated application and drying. During this process, changes in temperature and humidity affect the drying of the dye, and the conditions for the fine pigment particles to penetrate the wood's structure change depending on the state of the wood grain of each housing. This allows the smooth grain of the maple to beautifully emerge while retaining the deep blue color unique to hon-ai, resulting in a housing with a truly revolutionary color, with a texture that is different from left to right on each product.
*The "hon-ai" dye used in the housing is also used in some of the blue colors used in Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji."
