The Warm Audio/Fen-tone is an instrument ribbon microphone inspired by classic 1950s Danish designs, featuring modern components for powerful lows and rich midrange. It faithfully reproduces the sound profile of the most highly acclaimed miniature ribbon microphones.

The Fen-tone features high-quality components, including a custom ribbon made in Japan, a neodymium magnet, and a Cinemag USA-made transformer. Additionally, it features a built-in 26dB JFET inline preamp, allowing for use with lower-gain preamps. This ensures you can reliably capture the popular ribbon tone often heard on guitars, overheads, horns, and more.

The Fen-tone reproduces the original's pencil-shaped design and ventilated sidewalls, allowing for smooth installation in tight recording environments. Meanwhile, the internals have been significantly improved. By combining modern, high-performance parts like a custom Japanese ribbon, rare neodymium magnets, and a custom transformer made by Cinemag USA, we've achieved the ribbon tone sought after in contemporary music.

The Fen-tone, with its Figure-8 (bidirectional) directivity, is ideal for sources requiring high sound pressure and fine detail, such as electric guitar cabinets, overheads, and horns. Its excellent mid-range detail reproduction allows guitars to stand out even in a dense mix. It also features a warm, ""easy on the ears"" sound that softens harshness above 15kHz, delivering a powerful sound presence while suppressing harsh components such as ""s"" sounds.

Further enhancing its value is the all-analog 26dB JFET inline preamp. This is especially important for users who want to connect ribbon microphones directly to audio interfaces or low-quality preamps, preventing loss of volume, tone, and frequency. This active circuit is true bypass, preserving the purity of the passive ribbon circuit.

■Switchable 26dB Analog Inline Warm Lifter Preamp:
Equipped with a 5kΩ high-impedance JFET Warm Lifter circuit, it allows direct connection to low-gain preamps and audio interfaces without loss of volume, tone, or bandwidth. (Phantom power required.)
■Figure-8 Directivity:
Captures front and rear sounds while suppressing side noise. Ideal for recording from both directions, such as when two acoustic musicians are playing face-to-face, it captures less sound than other microphones.
