■WA-67: Another Legend Reborn

The original '67 model became one of the most popular and widely used studio microphones of its time, capturing a wide variety of classic recordings over the past 50 years—including hits by artists as diverse as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Temptations, and Nirvana. While the original is still highly sought-after, a well-maintained one could cost upwards of $8,000, putting it beyond the reach of most recordists.

Warm Audio has changed that scenario with the release of the new WA-67. Based on the EF86 pentode, the WA-67 delivers the same smooth, creamy tone as the original, excelling in recording everything from vocals and guitar to toms to overheads, piano, brass, and strings—and it's sure to become an instant favorite.

■Combining Technology and Passion

At Warm, we're passionate about killer studio tools and take our responsibility to our customers seriously. We've also invested significant time and effort into capturing as closely as possible to both the heart and soul of the original design. We used high-quality parts throughout, without interfering with the pure tube sound, and we worked hard to recreate the original circuitry. The WA-67 recreates the original '67 sound, and we're proud that such a high-quality microphone is now available to everyone.

■The Heart of the Microphone Capsule
Even if you pack a microphone with high-quality parts, it's meaningless if the capsule isn't correct. Knowing this, we went to great lengths to recreate the original '67 capsule, successfully recreating the same performance, frequency response, and bite as the original. Furthermore, by using the same brass construction as the original design, the WA-67's sonic brilliance is truly evident.

■The Guts and the Glory
The EF-86 vacuum tube is renowned for its consistent, beautiful response to any audio source, which is one of the reasons why original '67 microphones remain so popular today (and some modern audio manufacturers use it in their expensive microphones and preamps). We chose it for the WA-67 because we felt it was important to get the sound absolutely right.

Additionally, to complement the custom capsule and EF86 vacuum tube, we used the finest components to complete our version of the original circuit: high-bandwidth polystyrene capacitors, Wima polypropylene caps, and large Solen output capacitors. This contributes significantly to the WA-67's smooth high-frequency response and three-dimensional sound. The microphone is also encased in a beautiful nickel-plated brass body and head basket, ensuring strength and eliminating handling noise for the ultimate audio performance.

Finally, the quality of the 7-pin power cable connecting the tube microphone to the power source is also extremely important.

We partnered with high-end Swiss manufacturer Gotham Audio to use their high-end GAC-7 cable with the WA-67. This exceptional cable is essential to the microphone's sound and performance, making it an essential finishing touch to the WA-67 system.
