This is a channel strip module equipped with a simple microphone preamp, high pass filter, and 3-band EQ that inherits the legendary 1073. It is equipped with modern functions such as silk/texture control and pre/post ""tape"" operation that are also equipped in the Portico II.
■Main Features
MIC GAIN
Gain range up to 72 dB with 6 dB step settings and trim control for ±6 dB fine adjustment of gain setting.
TRIM
Gain fine adjustment of ±6 dB for mic gain setting or line input.
SILK / TEXTURE
Variable control for manipulating harmonics to create an attractive sound without compromising the overall sound of the mix. The Silk circuit features ""Red"" and ""Blue"" modes with a choice of vintage and modern characters. Red mode saturates and emphasizes mids and highs, while Blue mode mainly affects lows. The Texture control drives the output stage, intentionally creating up to 4-5% THD to add richness and thickness to your tracks.
INDUCTOR EQ
This EQ uses the same inductors as the vintage modules designed by Rupert Neve in the mid-70s.
High Pass Filter / HPF
The high pass filter is useful anywhere in the signal chain, and is used to cut out unwanted low frequencies. It is particularly effective on rumble noises from buildings, motor noise from air conditioning, hum noises, etc.
LOW EQ
Switchable between shelving and peak, it provides 15 dB of boost/cut. It can be set to 35 Hz, 60 Hz, 100 Hz, or 220 Hz.
MID EQ - Midband EQ
Boosts/cuts ±15 dB in specific low to high frequency bands at 200 Hz, 350 Hz, 700 Hz, 1.5 kHz, 3kHz and 6 kHz. Bandwidth can be adjusted with the MID HI Q switch.
HF EQ - Treble band EQ
Boosts and cuts 15 dB with switchable shelving and peaking. Frequencies can be set to 8 kHz and 16 kHz.
Phantom Power - Phantom Power
Provides 48V power for studio condenser microphones.
Polarity / O - Phase Polarity
Inverts the phase of the source by 180°.
LEVEL METER
8-segment LED meter shows output level (pre ""Silk""). Signal level is shown in three colors: green, yellow, and red. When the 5052 clips at the output stage, the top red LED stays on for a while, indicating that there is too much signal.
