RUPERT NEVE DESIGNS / SHELFORD 5051

A processor module that combines the classic 3-band EQ of a vintage design by Rupert with the powerful and flexible compressor of Portico II. With a fully discrete, class A signal path and high-quality input and output transformers, the 5051 delivers a musical sound that lives up to the expectations of Rupert Neve.

■Main Features

LINE SELECT - Two line inputs
Equipped with two line inputs, you can switch between them with a switch on the front panel while the input source is connected.

INDUCTER EQ - Inductor mid-band EQ (MF)
This EQ uses custom-tapped inductors made of carefully selected capacitors, just like Rupert Neve's traditional vintage modules. It boosts/cuts specific bands from low to high frequencies at 200 Hz, 350 Hz, 700 Hz, 1.5 kHz, 3 kHz and 6 kHz by ±15 dB.

HF & LF EQ - Treble and Bass Band EQ
The high and low band EQ can be switched between shelving and peak, and can boost and cut by 15 dB. The high frequency can be set to 8 kHz and 16 kHz, and the low frequency can be set to 35 Hz, 60 Hz, 100 Hz, and 220 Hz.

COMPRESSION
When the signal level is below the threshold, the gain control is not activated and the input level is output linearly. When the signal level reaches and exceeds the threshold, the gain is controlled (compressed) according to the ratio setting.

GAIN
The compressor is a processor that reduces the level of the audio signal. Therefore, the output volume differs when it is turned on and off. Gain (makeup) compensates for the gain reduction caused by the compressor. The 5051 compressor module has a gain control ranging from -6 to +20 dB. It is generally set so that the volume is the same when the compressor is turned on and off.

High Pass Filter / HPF
High pass filters are useful anywhere in the signal chain, and are used to cut out unwanted low frequencies. They are especially useful for removing rumble from buildings, air conditioning motor noise, hum, etc.

RATIO
Sets the gain compression ratio of the compressor.

Threshold
Sets the signal level at which the compressor operates. The compressor will engage when the signal level reaches or exceeds the set value.

ATTACK TIME
Sets the start time of the compressor.

RELEASE / RECOVERY TIME
Sets the duration of the compressor's gain control.
