The MS-20 mini is a faithful reproduction of the original MS-20, with the original engineer himself serving as development leader, striving to recreate the original circuitry and using his ear to determine where replacement parts were necessary to recreate the original sound.
The sound of the MS-20 mini may sound a little bright and extreme. This is the original MS-20 sound, intact from the time of its release, with all its components intact.

● 2VCO / 2VCF / 2VCA / 2EG / 1LFO configuration.
The MS-20 mini recreates the distinctive synthesis of the MS-20, including two oscillators with ring modulators, and an envelope generator with hold and delay capabilities. The VCA retains the basic design of the original while being modified to reduce noise compared to the original.

● Self-oscillating high-pass and low-pass filters with distinctive distortion.
The MS-20's greatest feature is its powerful high-pass and low-pass filters, equipped with resonance. When the resonance is set to maximum, these filters self-oscillate like oscillators, producing a unique and dramatic change in sound that is acclaimed as one of a kind and was also used in the monotron and monotribe.
Of the filter circuits used in the MS-20, which were divided into early and late production models, the MS-20 mini uses the early model, which is highly regarded for its more radical nature.

●External Signal Processor (ESP) for processing external signals.
The ESP, emblematic of the MS-20's experimental spirit, allows you to control the synthesizer using the pitch and volume of the external input sound. For example, inputting an electric guitar allows it to function as a guitar synthesizer, while inputting a microphone allows it to function as a vocal synthesizer.

●Highly flexible patching system.
The patching system located on the right side of the panel allows you to create complex sounds by connecting jacks with cables and changing the connections of each unit. The possibilities are limited only by the user's imagination; a wide variety of sounds can be created by combining modulation input/output, trigger, sample & hold, and noise generator. Even beginners can get started by patching according to the MS-20 flow chart on the panel.
