The MS-20 mini is a sound reproduction of the original MS-20, with the engineers at the time becoming the development leader, striving to reproduce the original circuit, and determining where alternative parts are needed by the engineer's ears.
The sound of the MS-20 mini may sound a little bright and radical. It is the original MS-20 sound itself with no deterioration of the parts when it was released.

● 2VCO / 2VCF / 2VCA / 2EG / 1LFO configuration.
The MS-20 mini reproduces the characteristic synthesis of the MS-20, such as a 2-system oscillator with a ring modulator, a hold, and a delayable envelope generator. VCA has been modified while maintaining the original basic design to reduce noise more than the original.

● High-pass/low-pass filter with unique distortion and self-oscillation.
The most distinctive feature of the MS-20 is the intense filter with resonance in both high pass and low pass. The filter that self-oscillates like an oscillator when the resonance is maximized was evaluated as unique because of its unique and dramatic change in sound, and was also adopted in monotron/monotribe.
Among the filter circuits that are divided into the first and second halves of the MS-20 production period, the MS-20 mini uses the earlier model that is highly regarded as more radical.

● External signal processor (ESP) that processes external signals.
The ESP, which can be said to be a symbol of the experimental spirit of the MS-20, can control the synthesizer with the pitch and volume of the external input sound. For example, inputting an electric guitar can be used as a guitar synthesizer, and inputting a mic can be used as a vocal synthesizer.

● A highly flexible patching system.
The patching system on the right side of the panel allows you to create complex sounds by connecting jacks with cables and changing the connection of each unit. The possibility is to create various sounds depending on the idea of ​​the user, the combination of input/output of modulation, trigger, sample & hold, and noise generator. Even beginners can get started by patching along the MS-20 flow chart on the panel.
