■A Modern Reinvention of the Legendary Lead Vocal Microphone
The WA-87jr series recreates the iconic 87-style studio microphone with modern circuit technology. The WA-87jr and WA-87jr SE deliver exceptional performance in any environment, from project studios to world-class recording facilities. Each model features the same vintage-style, faithful reproduction of the renowned K87-style capsule found in the flagship WA-87 R2 condenser microphone. This capsule delivers the same tonal characteristics known from legendary recordings by artists from classic to contemporary, including David Bowie, Elton John, Beyoncé, and Justin Timberlake.
Continuing the tradition of pure studio sound
Combining one of the most acclaimed vocal condenser capsules of all time with our meticulously designed modern circuitry, the WA-87jr Series delivers rich detail and high-frequency clarity for capturing everything from vocals to acoustic guitars and drum overheads. Available with onboard controls and multiple polar patterns, or a simple cardioid-only design, WA-87jr microphones all feature a discrete signal path, exceptional dynamic range, and ultra-low self-noise. The WA-87jr Series sound profile blends past and present, achieving the perfect balance of pristine detail and never-harsh high frequencies.

[WA73-EQ]
■Channel Strip
The 1073 microphone preamp has captivated engineers and defined the sound of pop and rock records for the past 50 years. It remains a revered mic preamp today. WARM AUDIO's WA73 series carefully reimagines classic British preamps in a variety of single, dual, and EQ versions, paying homage to the original circuit design.
The WA73-EQ pays homage to the history of British consoles in both design and performance. The distinctive tone and sweet sound character of vintage units are both unique and familiar. WARM AUDIO's commitment to releasing an accurate replica led to the creation of the WA-73EQ after several years of R&D, careful reverse engineering, and countless auditions.
The original 1073 was known as a versatile tool for condenser, dynamic, and ribbon microphones. This unit is similarly capable of working with all types of microphones and sources. With 80dB of gain, a fully discrete Carnhill transformer-balanced signal path, and a versatile 3-band inductor EQ, there's no recording, mixing, or engineering task the WA73-EQ can't handle.
- Hand-Wired
Like the original 1073, the WA73-EQ is hand-wired and hand-assembled. Some claim that the 1073's classic tone is due to the artisan's hand-wiring.
- Custom Carnhill Transformer, Made in the UK
One common topic of discussion among 1073 enthusiasts is its classic circuit design. Vintage 1073s have used various versions of transformers over the years. At WARM AUDIO, we coveted the early Marinair Radar transformers. Their smooth, natural nature makes them the ideal choice for the 1073. Their sweet, saturated sound when pushed is enough to impress engineers. WARM AUDIO worked closely with Carnhill Transformers in Cambridgeshire, UK, to create a faithful replica of the original transformers we most desired. I've never heard any other currently available 1073-style preamps that come close to the sound of this early transformer.
- Capacitors and Signal Path
Although not often discussed, a key part of classic British circuits is the different capacitor and output transistor styles. We found that using tantalum and polystyrene capacitors in the signal path, along with output transistors that are smoother at higher gain settings than those found in current 1073-style preamps, was crucial to achieving perfect consistency with the original 1073.
- Blore Edwards Switch Pots
A great-sounding 1073-style circuit needs to be equally reliable. The complex dual concentric switch potentiometer in the WA73-EQ's EQ section is manufactured by Blore Edwards, a British company that manufactures military-spec switches and potentiometers. The use of Blore-Edwards components is rare in 1073-style preamps at this price point.
◎ International Review
""The WA73 is powerful."" It's powerful, punchy, smooth, silky, and rich in sound. To top it off, it's hand-wired and beautifully engineered like a tank. Well done, WARM AUDIO, it's amazing.
