■ Premium RP Driver mk2: Optimized diaphragm movement with air damping control
・The Premium RP Driver, developed using the largest diaphragm in the history of fully-driven planar diaphragm drivers, has been continuously refined since 1974. The mk2 model further optimizes diaphragm movement through air damping control inside the driver, as well as airflow adjustment using damping material and new ear pads. This achieves ideal diaphragm amplitude, especially in the low frequencies. In addition to the sharp response, high sensitivity, smooth frequency response, and excellent transient response that suppress unnecessary resonance thanks to the large diaphragm and magnetic circuit unique to the Premium RP Driver, the mk2 model delivers clearer sound images from the deep bass to the high frequencies, with more faithful and precise spatial positioning than ever before. ■Newly shaped and dual-layered ear pads newly adopted in the mk2
- The newly designed ear pads in the mk2 feature a sloped surface that contacts the face for optimal comfort. The internal low-resilience urethane is dual-layered, with a softer outer layer and a more resilient inner layer for a custom fit. In addition, the silk protein synthetic leather is three times more durable than previous models, ensuring a comfortable fit even during extended listening sessions.

■2-pole 3.5mm connector & high-purity OFC unbalanced Y-cable included
- The mk2 model features a 2-pole 3.5mm connector, improving re-cabling compatibility and versatility. The internal wiring and the included unbalanced cable are made of 7N (99.99999%) high-purity OFC (Oxygen-Free Copper) cable, which minimizes impurities and enhances transmission capacity. A 4.4mm balanced cable (ET-TH4.4BL2Y) is also available separately.

■Solid hard maple housing finished with Awa indigo, a traditional Japanese dye developed in collaboration with Awa indigo artisans.
・Awa indigo from Tokushima Prefecture, long prized for its luxurious dyeing, was developed in collaboration with Awa indigo artisans to dye the solid hard maple housing, known for its use in guitars. Each piece is meticulously dyed by skilled artisans, resulting in a deep indigo color that beautifully showcases the hard maple's unique grain. Dyeing with "real indigo," made solely from the indigo plant, takes advantage of hard maple's hardness, its heavy specific gravity, and its ability to avoid unnecessary coloration, resulting in a rich, deep bass range and clear, expansive high frequencies. The open-back TH1100RPmk2 features dual aluminum-etched parts at the housing opening, and meticulous fine-tuning of the aperture ratio and internal components reproduces a natural sound field with high resolution and ease of listening fatigue, befitting the premium nature of open-back RP headphones.

Awa indigo from Tokushima is a historic Japanese natural dye known for its beautiful dyeing results, and it has long been known nationwide as an essential dye for high-quality textiles. However, dyeing wood using traditional methods was difficult, and much trial and error was required to adjust the dye concentration, fermentation process, and soil preparation. The housings of the TH1000RPmk2/TH1100RPmk2 are dyed by hand using "hon-ai" dye made entirely from natural Japanese knotweed indigo, which is repeatedly painted and dried over many days. During this process, changes in temperature and humidity affect the drying process of the dye, and the conditions for the fine pigment particles to penetrate the wood's structure vary depending on the condition of the wood grain of each housing. This allows the smooth grain of the maple to beautifully emerge while retaining the deep blue color unique to indigo dye, resulting in a housing with a truly revolutionary color, with each unit's texture being unique from left to right.

*The indigo dye used in the housing is also used to create some of the blue in Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.

■Newly Adopted Lightweight Magnesium Alloy Mechanical Components
- Magnesium alloy is newly adopted for mechanical components such as the housing base plate and hanger, making them 20% lighter than aluminum. Rubber gaskets are also used in the rotating mechanism to minimize unnecessary vibration. Improvements based on a design philosophy that pays careful attention to the fine details of each component have further improved usability.
