Variations

This model has the overtones and open midrange of a single coil, but with higher output than a single coil. With plain strings, it produces a sound very similar to a single coil, while with wound strings, it produces a slightly fatter sound than a single coil. Its well-separated sound is recommended for guitarists who play complex chords. It's also famous as a model that Andy Timmons has used for many years.

フェンダー’94スクアイアーシリーズのネックに搭載しました。

シングルコイルらしいハムバッカーを想像していましたが、真ん中が全くありません。
出力や磁力を考慮して、弦から2mmくらいの高さにしたのですが、クリーンだとまるでブリキ缶を叩いているような音が出ます。「カン、カン」「ボン、ボン」といった感じです。

トーンチャートより低域が強く、高域にコンプレッションが掛かった感じです。アタックは強いですが、延びがありません。そしてタイトル通り、中域がありません（少なくともサスティーンはありません）。全体的に薄っぺらい音です。

海外のサイトでは弦との距離に敏感だとあったので、1cmほど距離をとりクランチを掛けると、やっとシングルらしい中域が感じられ始めます。
でも、他のピックアップとのバランスを考えると、ストックのシングルコイルを使った方がよほど楽です。

恐らくこのピックアップは、ゲインを大きく掛けるかエフェクターを使用することを前提に設計されているのでしょう。激しく歪ませた場合、ギブソン系のビンテージハムに比べると透明感があります。中域の無さが聞きやすさになり、高域のサスティーンも出てくるので、モダンな感じの音になります。

使い方が限定されるので☆5は無理ですが、特徴のある音が作れるピックアップです。

くれぐれもシングルの音を期待してはいけません
