RUPERT NEVE DESIGNS / Portico 551

This inductor EQ not only inherits the classic design of the venerable Rupert Neve, but also eliminates the compromises of past designs and combines modern features to create a 3-band EQ in the 500 Series standard. Constructed with a custom-wound transformer, inductor, and Class A gain block, the 551 delivers powerful, thick lows and smooth highs—the first 500 Series EQ module to feature Rupert's classic sound in the making.

■Key Features

Inductor EQ
This is Rupert Neve's first 500 Series EQ. It features custom-wound inductors and frequency bands inherited from Neve's legendary EQ modules.

LOW EQ
Switchable between shelving and peaking, it provides a ±15 dB range of boost/cut. Settings include 35 Hz, 60 Hz, 100 Hz, and 220 Hz.

MID EQ
Boosts/cuts specific low- to high-frequency bands at 200 Hz, 350 Hz, 700 Hz, 1.5 kHz, 3 kHz, and 6 kHz, within a ±15 dB range. The MID HI Q switch allows you to select the bandwidth.

HF EQ - Treble Band EQ
Switchable between shelving and peak, with a ±15 dB range of boost/cut. The frequency can be set to 8 kHz or 16 kHz.

High Pass Filter / HPF - High Pass Filter
The 551's HPF is 12 dB/octave and is used to cut unwanted low frequencies below 80 Hz.

Transformer I/O - Transformer Input/Output
The input and output are equipped with custom transformers designed by Rupert specifically for the 500 Series.

Note: Rupert Neve Designs 500 Series products are mounted on dedicated rack chassis. Therefore, the panel areas (except the front panel) that are not visible when the chassis is installed are manufactured with the assumption that scratches will occur during the manufacturing process or inspection. Even new products may have scratches in these areas; however, please note that this does not constitute a product defect.
