A summing mixer with NEVE's legendary sound for computer-based environments.
■Neve's legendary sound at your fingertips
The Neve sound has been the audio recording benchmark for generations of leading engineers, musicians, and producers.
The 8816 summing mixer brings Neve's legendary sound to computer-based producers.
Handwired at the Neve factory in Burnley, UK, the 8816 allows engineers and producers to mix music with a Neve summing mixer. The unit offers 16 input channels with +15dB gain, level, pan, cut/solo, and cue controls. Additionally, the post-insert mix function allows you to mix with separate stems or blend your mix with special effects.
With four monitor sources, two sets of speakers, independent monitor level control, talkback microphone, cue send, and headphone output, the 8816 effectively upgrades your digital audio workstation to a professional mixing facility. An onboard USB connector also allows 8816 snapshots to be saved to a PC or Mac and recalled for remixing.
The 8816 employs the same transformer mixing topology as the classic 80 Series consoles, using two custom Marineair transformers for the stereo mix bus output and featuring a unique ""Stereo Width"" control, similar to that found in professional mastering studios. This means you can achieve the open, punchy mixes for which Neve consoles have long been renowned.
For those requiring digital outputs, the 8816's analog-to-digital conversion option supports standard sample rates up to 192 kHz and direct conversion to DSD (Direct Stream Digital). This Neve-designed ADC compares favorably with dedicated professional A/D conversion units costing the same or more than the entire 8816 mixer. If 16 inputs aren't enough, multiple 8816 units can be cascaded via a dedicated two-track bus. This unit can also be paired with the 8804 Fader Pack, which features 18 long-throw faders for hands-on control.
