The three large knobs are considered the main controls. GAIN: Controls the amount of distortion.
VOLUME: Controls the volume.
TONE: Controls the amount of high frequencies.
The small PRE GAIN knob in the center and the two push-push switches on the top of the unit are considered sub-controls.
All of these sub-controls relate to the pre-gain section (the first part of the circuit).
PRE GAIN: Controls the gain before the signal enters the main drive circuit.
Raising this control increases the clean components and overall distortion. If you want to increase only the proportion of clean components, raise PRE GAIN. If you don't need the increased distortion, lower GAIN to reduce it.
CLIP: Activates the clipper in the PRE GAIN section, allowing you to add distortion even in the PRE GAIN section.
CLIP on: Turning up the PRE GAIN knob mainly increases distortion.
This produces a squashed texture, making it recommended for achieving a fuzz sound. If the PRE GAIN is low, the CLIP threshold may not be reached, resulting in little change.
DEEP: Boosts the low frequencies of the signal amplified in the PRE GAIN section.
This is useful for creating sounds when you feel a lack of low frequencies by distorting the signal or when using the pedal as a preamp. When the PRE GAIN is raised, the relative amount of change becomes smaller.
We recommend starting with the following settings as a baseline for sound creation.
1. Set both push switches (CLIP and DEEP) to NORMAL (unpressed).
2. Set PRE GAIN to 12 o'clock (center).
In this state, you can create the basic sound of a typical overdrive pedal using the three knobs: GAIN, VOLUME, and TONE.
Once the basic sound is established, it's easier to understand the role of each control by thinking of it as fine-tuning the tone by manipulating the PRE GAIN knob and the two push switches (CLIP/DEEP).
■Bass Overdrive
■Mechanical Switch - True Bypass
■Internal Configuration: Main circuit is hand-soldered, power supply uses some SMD components
■Current Consumption: Approximately 100mA or more at startup, approximately 53mA/9VDC under normal conditions
*Since 100mA or more is required at startup, please use a power supply with a rating of 100mA or more.
■Internal Operating Voltage: 30VDC
■Power Supply: Regulated AC adapter or power supply (DC9V, 2.1mm center negative)
*Cannot be powered by batteries (using an external battery snap will not produce the original sound, so batteries cannot be used.)
■Weight: Approximately 340g
■Size: (W)72 x (D)127 x (H)56 (mm) *Including protrusions
