The new Prophet-5 Rev4 was born from Dave Smith's recollections and love for the "analog polysynth that changed the world," which is his starting point, and is still actively creating synthesizers with a career spanning more than 40 years.

The legendary Prophet-5 Rev (Revision 1 = early model), released in 1978, has been improved over the next few years to Rev2 (second generation model) and Rev3 (third generation model), and finally evolved into Rev4 (fourth generation model) in October 2020. This has resulted in the latest model, which Dave Smith declares to be "the best Prophet-5 of all Prophet-5s." Rev4 can play all the sounds of the past three revisions. The Rev1/Rev2 used the SSM2040 chip designed by Dave Rossum, an engineer at E-mu, for the filter, which is the key to the sound quality, but the Rev4 is equipped with two types of filters, the modern version SSI-2140 and the Curtis CEM3320 chip used in the Rev3. The newly added [REV] switch in the filter section allows you to switch between them. This specification has successfully revived the pure analog classic sound 40 years later. Its orthodox and rugged powerful sound quality and the high reliability of modern technology have elevated the Prophet-5 to the artistic realm.

The Prophet-10 is a 10-voice version of the Prophet-5.

In 1978, the development of the 10-voice Prophet-10 was also underway in parallel with the already completed Prophet-5 Rev1. Despite the many hours spent on prototyping, it was difficult to keep the tuning of the 20 analog oscillators stable at all times with the hardware at the time due to issues with the heat treatment inside the case and the accuracy of the VCO's temperature compensation.

As a result, production of the Prophet-10 was abandoned, but the legendary Prophet-10 has finally been completed using modern technology. The Prophet-10, a 10-voice version of the Prophet-5, enables technical playing that was previously impossible with the previous 5-voice limit, greatly improving playability. The Prophet-10 is the Prophet-5 for professionals.
