Vintage Sound, Vintage Knobs
The project to reproduce the Prophet-5 began with searching for the original parts used in the original. At the same time, we thoroughly investigated and researched why the original Prophet-5 sound was warm, organic, and full of presence. We discovered that the factors creating this captivating sound were the subtle differences and variations in the characteristics of each voice's oscillator, filter, envelope, and amplifier frequency and response time.

To imbue the new Prophet-5 sound with the same captivating magic, this unit features a newly developed [VINTAGE] knob. This knob allows you to apply random variations to each section that makes up the voice, which differ depending on the revision. You can freely set it from the very stable ""4"" like the Prophet-5 Rev4 to the rarest and most temperamental ""1"" of all Prophet-5s, like the Prophet-5 Rev1.

Poly-Modulation, Enhanced Unison and Glide
In addition to the superb tones of its oscillators and filters, much of the Prophet-5's unique sound is a result of its poly-modulation, which is faithfully carried over to the Prophet-5 Rev4. The modulation sources remain the same as the original: Filter Envelope and Oscillator B. The destinations are the frequency of Oscillator A, the pulse width of Oscillator A, and the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter. Despite this simple routing, the sound changes more dramatically than you might expect. Another welcome feature is the unison mode. You can now set the number of voices (1-5 voices) and the amount of detune, allowing you to create extremely thick bass sounds. A chord memory function has also been added. In Rev4, Glide has been improved to work with both unison on and off.

Velocity and Aftertouch
Our mission with the new Prophet-5 was to ensure the most accurate and stable operation possible, guaranteeing reliability and faithfulness to the original. However, we weren't hesitant to add modern features like velocity and aftertouch to enhance the instrument's expressiveness. These features allow you to control filter cutoff frequency, LFO modulation depth, volume, and more at your fingertips, enabling performances not possible with the original.

Simple and Smooth Operation
The simple and smooth operation of the Prophet-5 remains intact in the Rev4. The front panel features logically arranged knobs and switches for each section, allowing intuitive access to and real-time control of the parameters needed for sound creation. Turning off the preset button switches to live panel mode, changing the sound to match the current knob and switch settings. It includes 200 factory programs and 200 rewritable user program areas, including the original 40 sound sets created by John Bowen in 1978.

The electronic circuitry, which produces a punchy, powerful analog sound, is housed in a stylish enclosure made of robust steel and black walnut veneer meticulously oil-finished by furniture makers. Its beautiful finish allows you to experience the joy of owning a high-end instrument. The rear panel features input/output terminals such as USB, MIDI, and CV/Gate, providing excellent connectivity with external equipment.
