FRIEDMAN / IR-X

The IR-X DUAL TUBE PREAMP (hereafter referred to as the IR-X) is a next-generation floor-type guitar tube preamp designed by Dave Friedman, an amp designer and system builder who has been active in the Los Angeles music scene for 20 years and who has earned the trust and respect of top musicians.

With its two fully independent channels, simple control knobs, BRIGHT/TIGHT switch and boost function that can be assigned to each channel, and the two pre-tubes (12AX7) that are driven at high voltage, it achieves rich harmonics and outstanding response like the flagship BE-100 DELUXE HEAD and SMALL BOX HEAD.
The IR-X can be used to output the authentic tube amp sound you set up with the IR-X via an external power amp through a guitar system and a real guitar cabinet, or you can use the ‘IR function’ that can be operated using the 3-way mini switch and dedicated editor on the main unit to connect directly to an audio interface or PA system, or for silent recording at home.

●Floor-type tube preamp with 2 independent channels and boost function
The IR-X achieves the good old rock sound and tone that is characteristic of FRIEDMAN AMPs in a lightweight, compact size, and covers everything from British clean sound to fat, punchy crunch sound. EL) and CHANNEL 2 (BOTTOM CHANNEL), which offers a superb high-gain Plexi sound with a pleasant saturation and bounce feel, and is highly responsive to the volume control and picking response of the guitar.
You can also enjoy a wide range of sound creation with the BOOST function, which allows you to set individual boost volume and gain levels for each channel.

●Equipped with low-latency ‘cabinet impulse response (IR)’
The IR cabinet simulation function is equipped with power amp simulations (THUMP and PRESENCE) that Dave Friedman has carefully selected to bring out the full potential of the IR-X.
You can load three types of IR for each channel from the 12 factory IRs and the additional third-party IRs, and monitor high-quality sound as if you were actually recording in a studio through the headphone out, or output it directly to a PA mixer or your home DAW environment.

●Presets can be edited using the dedicated editor
Using the dedicated editor ‘FRIEDMAN IR-X EDITOR’ (Mac/Windows compatible), which can be downloaded for free, it is possible to set up MIDI and each switch and power amp simulation, select IRs, and upload third-party IRs.
*THUMP and PRESENCE are only available when using the BALANCED OUT, and require operation from the editor.

●Equipped with high-quality effect loops (SEND / RETURN)
In addition to connecting a spacial effect pedal, the effect loops on the rear panel of the IR-X can also be used for the following purposes.

・SEND terminal: Connect the preamp sound that is not simulated by the IR cabinet to the return of a guitar amp or an external power amp.

RETURN terminal: Connect to the output of an external effect pedal or preamp and use only the power amp/IR cabinet simulation function.

●Compatible with MIDI operation
Up to 128 presets can be saved on the main unit or with the dedicated editor. It is also possible to recall presets from an external MIDI controller or link with a spacial effect pedal compatible with MIDI operation with a single action.
