Features
Vintage sound, vintage knob
The project to reproduce the Prophet-5 started by looking for genuine parts that were originally used. At the same time, we thoroughly investigated and researched why the sound of the Prophet-5 at that time was warm, organic and strong. We have found that the factors that make such an attractive sound are subtle differences and fluctuations in characteristics such as oscillators, filters, envelopes, amplifier frequencies and response times for each voice.

To give the sound of the new Prophet-5 the same fascinating magic, this unit is equipped with a newly developed [VINTAGE] knob. This knob allows you to give different random changes to each section of your voice, depending on the revision. You can set it freely from the very stable “4” like the Prophet-5 Rev4 to the rarest and most difficult “1” of all the Prophet-5 Prophet-5s in the Prophet-5 Rev1.

Poly-modulation, enhanced unison and glide
In addition to the great tones of the oscillators and filters, many of Prophet-5's unique sounds are the result of polymodulation, which is faithfully inherited by Prophet-5 Rev4. There are two modulation sources, Filter Envelope and Oscillator B, which are faithful to the original, and three destinations are Oscillator A frequency, Oscillator A pulse width, and low-pass filter cutoff frequency. Contrary to its simple routing, the sound changes more than you can imagine. Another nice feature is Unison mode. It is possible to set the number of voices (1 to 5 voices) and the amount of detune, which can be used to create a very thick bass sound. It also has a code memory function. With Rev4, Glide has been improved so that Unison works both on and off.

Velocity and aftertouch
Our mission was to ensure that the new Prophet-5 works as accurately and stably as possible, to be reliable and faithful to the original, but to increase its expressiveness as an instrument, velocity. I was comfortable adding the modern features of and aftertouch. With these features, you can control the cutoff frequency of the filter, the depth of the LFO modulation, the volume, etc. with your fingertips, enabling performance not found in the original.

Simple and smooth operability
The simple and smooth operation of Prophet-5 is still alive in Rev4. Knobs and switches are logically arranged on the front panel for each section, allowing intuitive access to the parameters required for sound creation and real-time control. Turning off the preset button shifts to live panel mode, switching to the tone with the current knob and switch settings. There are 200 factory programs and 200 rewritable user program areas, including the original 40 program soundset created by John Bowen in 1978.

Beautifully designed housing with robust steel and black walnut
The electronic board that produces a powerful analog-like punchy sound is housed in a stylishly designed housing made of robust steel and a black walnut veneer carefully oil-finished by a furniture craftsman. With its beautiful finish, you can feel the joy of getting a high-end instrument. The rear panel is equipped with input / output terminals such as USB, MIDI, and CV / Gate, making it an excellent interface with external equipment.

This new Prophet-5 Rev4 is the latest model with the best sound quality, features and design in Prophet-5 history.
