This model has overtones and an open midrange like a single coil, but has higher output than a single coil. With plain strings, it produces a sound similar to a single coil, and with wound strings, it produces a slightly fatter sound than a single coil. The midrange is slightly scooped compared to the neck model, so you can make chords sound bigger.
