This modular analog synthesizer from KORG features the distinctive circuitry common to the series, such as wave shaping to shape the oscillator's harmonics and a sync/ring switch, as well as cross modulation, a sharp two-pole low-pass filter, and a drive switch to add thickness to the sound. 32-bit float digital effects further refine the sound.
Equipped with analog synthesizer circuitry and a digital multi-engine.
The configuration is 2VCO + MULTI ENGINE, 1VCF, 2EG, 1VCA, and 1LFO. In addition to the series' distinctive circuits, such as wave shaping to shape the oscillator's harmonics and a sync/ring switch, it also features cross modulation, a sharp 2-pole low-pass filter, and a drive switch to add thickness to the sound. The sounds cover a wide range of variations, from the warm pads unique to analog to fat basses and clear leads.
In addition to the two analog VCOs, the multi-engine, which serves as a third oscillator, delivers the allure of digital sound. Equipped with three different sound generator types—noise, VPM, and user slot—this engine takes advantage of its unique sonic characteristics and, by working together with the analog engine, infinitely expands the possibilities of hybrid sound creation.
High-quality digital effects.
High-quality digital effects with 32-bit floating point processing further refine the minilogue xd module's sound. Three types of effects—modulation effect, reverb, and delay—can be used simultaneously, offering a wide variety of options, including chorus, ensemble, warm tape delay, and a variety of reverbs. User effect slots allow you to load your own effect programs.
User customization unlocks limitless possibilities.
The minilogue xd module offers customization possibilities through its open environment. 16 user oscillator slots and 16 user effect slots are provided for customization. Oscillators and effect programs created with the SDK (Software Development Kit) can be loaded into the module via the dedicated librarian software.
Polyphonic step sequencer.
A major feature of the minilogue xd series is its 16-step step sequencer. Each factory-preset program contains a built-in sequence pattern, allowing you to expand your ideas.
This step sequencer supports both real-time recording and step recording. Direct selection of the 16 step buttons allows for quick editing, such as replacing or muting step sounds, and impromptu performances. Motion sequence, which records up to four knob movements to add time-varying change to the sound, can record not only continuous value changes but also discrete values for each step. Since you can create and assign different sounds to each step, you can, for example, create drum patterns or sound effects from a single program, expanding the possibilities to your imagination.
By turning Keyboard mode on, these 16 buttons also function as a keyboard with just over an octave, making it convenient for checking the sound.
Supports poly chaining.
The minilogue xd module can be used in conjunction with a minilogue xd series unit (*1) (*2) for poly assignment. By designating the control as master and slave, it can play as an eight-voice polyphonic synthesizer (*3). It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as adding voices to the minilogue xd or as a sound source for a DAW-based production system.
*1: Keyboard-equipped models require System v1.1 or later.
*2: Any combination of xd and xd module is possible.
*3: Two xd units can produce four voices each, for a total of eight voices. The master unit takes priority, with voices from the fifth onwards being assigned to the slave unit.
