WARM AUDIO コンデンサーマイク WA-251

過去50年以上にわたって数え切れないほどのヒットレコードで使用されてきたクラシック '251をベースにした、真空管コンデンサーマイクです。

Roswell Pro Audio's third large diaphragm microphone, the Colares, was born as a flagship vocal microphone.
The Colares is not a microphone with neutral characteristics; it features a rich, full-bodied tone that exudes a vintage feel.

Development of the Colares began with inspiration from the renowned vintage Telefunken ELA M251.
However, like other Roswell microphones, it is not simply a reproduction of a vintage microphone.
While inheriting the distinctive vintage tone of the 251,
it offers a sound design that matches modern music production and easy setup and maintenance.

Includes a dedicated flight case and Rycote® shock mount.

- Custom output transformer manufactured by Cinemag in the USA
- -10 dB pad reduces second-order harmonics for a clearer sound
- Variable Bass Response switch with 3-way low-frequency compensation, featuring bass roll-off and other features not found in typical high-pass filters
- Rycote® shock mount included

■COMPONENTS
The Colares is built using the finest components sourced from around the world.
No compromises were made in the design of this microphone.
- NOS JFET parts are specially selected and individually biased using a dedicated jig.
- Critical audio path capacitors are made from American-made film and foil parts.
- Resistors are audiophile-grade 50 ppm 1% tolerance parts from PRP, Vishay Dale, and a third, confidential supplier.
The switch uses premium C&K parts, rated for 90,000 actuations (approximately 115 years of normal use).
The output transformer is a custom product from Cinemag.

使うものを選ばない名機

使うものを選ばない名機
Avantone　CK6のOEMとも言われるこのマイク
男声、女声、ヴォーカル、アコースティックギター、ピアノ、管楽器やバイオリン、チェロ、などの弦楽器どれを録音しても忠実に音を拾い、奥行感、配置感、素晴らしいマイクです。
名前だけが先走っていて有名なものを使うのが手っ取り早いけど、売れるためだけに味付けをして表面的な満足感を重視して作ってうｒマイクが多いですが、楽器メーカーとしてホンモノを世に送り出してもらいたいものです。
AvantoneやRosewellのように！
名機は使うものを選ばず使用できます！U87がそうであったように・・・

キャラクター的に癖はあるが音楽的な良いマイク

サウンドハウスさんに在庫がなかったので結果的には他店で購入した。（たまたまセール品だった）
比較したのはLauten AudioとMojaveおよびAustrian Audioだった。最も無難なのはAustrian Audioだが、手持ちがNeuman TML103でどちらかと言うと無難なものだったので、傾向の違うものを探した結果だった。
このマイク、かなり音量が出る。プリアンプの設定によっては Padを押してもいい感じになる。
音質は素直と言うよりややハイが抜ける感じだが痛くはない。またローカットなどしなければかなりローもよく出る。線も太く前に張り出すような音だ。
Neumanの中域の抜けとは違う感じ。情報量もしっかりしている印象だが、繊細さではNeumanかもしれない。いずれにしても声には良いクリーミーな感じが出る。
もう１本低価格だがSE2200と比較したが、このクラスと比べるとSEの線の細さは否めない。
ただメインボーカルには良いがコーラスなどはSEとかAKGとかの方が向いているような気はする。
付属のショックマウントも汎用性のあるタイプだが、太い機種専用なので手持ちの他マイクには使えなかった。ハードケースも付いているが、大手ではないため汎用性のものになる。
ただこのような本気モードの新しいメーカーが出てくることはこの業界にとっても良いことだと思う。いつまでもノイマン、AKG、テレフンケンに依存することはないのではと思う。
機会があればlautenなども試してみたいが、、、とにかく数がないのが難点かもしれない。
