~From the Manufacturer's Website~
It's been quite some time since BADASS guitar bridges disappeared from store shelves. The cause is said to be a broken mold at the manufacturer. However, BADASS guitar bridges are highly popular, and when they occasionally appear at auctions, they sell quickly. Several manufacturers have also released replica models. However, some of them are of poor shape and quality, and no definitive solution has been found. Now, at last, we have released this bridge! We've paid particular attention to the shape and plating, faithfully recreating the feel of the original. And most importantly, it's lower in height than the original. For this production, we collaborated with Mr. Takeda, president of Ramtrick Company, Inc., to completely redesign the height, making the total thickness 1mm lower than the original. It's only 1mm, but it matters. The Les Paul Special (Single Cutaway), popular among Japanese guitarists, can have a shallow neck angle depending on the manufacturing period and individual differences. Therefore, when replacing the original bar bridge with a BADASS bridge, the string height often remains high even when the studs are lowered all the way. A difference of 1mm in this situation makes a big difference. If you're using a BADASS bridge on your Les Paul Special and are experiencing issues with high string height, we highly recommend replacing it with this bridge.
What is Badass?
The Badass ""Badass Bridge,"" which ushered in a new era of replacement parts for electric guitars and basses, was created by the late Leo Quan (""Badass"" - ""skilled, fearless""). While the so-called Burr bridge that came standard on instruments like the Les Paul Jr. was simple, it had the drawback of fixed saddles and poor octave tuning. Dissatisfied with this, Leo began creating his own Burr replacement bridge with adjustable saddles. The first Badass bridge was released in 1972. This bridge, which could be installed on Burr-bridge guitars without modification and allowed for individual octave adjustment for each string, was well-received by other musicians with similar concerns, and quickly became famous. The list of big names who love Badass is endless, including Keith Richard (The Rolling Stones), Pat Travers, Malcolm Young (AC/DC), and Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin). It's also standard equipment on products from various guitar brands, including B.C. Rich, and has earned it acclaim. The Bass II has also become the standard replacement bridge for bass guitars since the 1980s, further enhancing Badass's reputation.
