■ Accurate and dynamic, the J48 MK2 is a sound engineer's dream come true. The J48 MK2 is designed to operate with phantom power (48V). Its design recognizes the fact that all active direct boxes are preamps of sorts. Many active DIs suffer from square wave distortion when the instrument's input voltage exceeds the DI's internal operating voltage. This prevents many active DIs from accurately reproducing the wide dynamic range of active basses and acoustic guitars. To solve this problem, the Radial J48 features an internal switching power supply that boosts the internal operating voltage, ensuring a faithful reproduction of the original, even with large signals. This allows it to accurately reproduce a wide frequency range from 20Hz to 40kHz without harmonic distortion, phase disturbance, or internal interference distortion.
■In addition to the phase reverse switch, 15dB pad switch, and ground lift switch required for a direct box, the RADIAL J48 also features a unique stereo to mono distortion switch and a high-pass (80Hz) rumble filter. This allows you to cut out unwanted low frequencies and improve the clarity of the mids and highs.
