ALESIS / SR-16 Rhythm Machine/Drum Machine

The ALESIS/SR16 is a standard drum machine with realistic and natural sound. It features 233 realistic and natural sounds. Each sound is available in both dry and reverb versions. The SR16 also features Alesis' unique Dynamic Articulation function, which changes the drum sound depending on the strength of your playing.

The SR16 comes with 50 preset patterns, not programmed but actually performed by top studio drummers. Each pattern features rhythmic variations (A, B, Fill) that are extremely useful when composing and arranging. Patterns and songs can also be customized and saved by the user.

In addition, the SR16 is MIDI-compatible, allowing you to edit patterns entered via foot switch input or velocity-sensitive pads using the comprehensive program editing functions and output them as MIDI.

アナログモデリングシンセサイザーを使っていて、ワークステーション機能が付いてないため、演奏をより充実させるために購入しました。ドラムの音がとても良く、説明書を読まなくても弄ってればスクに使い方を覚えてしまいます。これから使っていくのが楽しみです。見た目は90年代のシーケンサーっぽくて逆にオシャレだと思います。

すばらしい

バンドのドラムが見つからなかったので代用のため買いました。
まぁ練習に使えれば、と軽い感じで買いましたがいい意味で期待を裏切られました。
リアルなサウンドと上質なリバーヴがいい感じです。
1991年発売のロングセラーだそうで、長く使われてるだけあると思います。

変更点があります

2012年10月に購入しました。
1. 変更点
今回入手したSR16は、公開されている仕様から変更になっている点があります。
1 以前は16-bitでした、現在の製品は24-bitです。
2 出力端子の一部に変更があります。
以前は
Main L out put x 1
Main R out put x 1
Aux L out put x 1
Aux R out put x 1
でしたが、現在は
Headphones out put x 1
Main L out put x 1
Main R out put x 1
Aux L/R out put x 1
に変更になっています。
Headphone outが追加になり、その分AuxのLとRが1つの端子にまとまっています。Auxの出力にはYケーブルが必要です。
Headphone outが追加になったので、SR-16単体でMixerやAmpにつながなくてもどこでも作業ができるようになったのは良いかもしれません。
3 Alesisのホーム・ページ（英語）のリアパネルの画像は以前の仕様になっています。その画像ではMade in Taiwanと書かれていますが、現在はMade in Manaysiaになっています。
2. 製品全般
これまで、Drum machineの音なんてどうせ不自然な音しか出ないと思って見向きもしませんでしたが、音を実際に聞いてその先入観を捨てました。
操作性も直感的にできるので、こういう機械に苦手意識のある私でも楽に扱えます。何より、SR-16の設計の考え方がわかりやすく、しかもよく考えられていて感心します。
柔軟性、操作性、音質どれをとっても気に入りました。こんなに素晴らしい内容が詰まったものが12,000円で手に入るというのはありがたい。
Alesis Nanoverb2と組み合わせてMixer経由で音を出してみましたが、一層良い感じです。
3. Main L/R出力用に本体のVolumeを調整したままでHeadphoneを差すと、大音量になってしまうので、一度Volumeを絞ってから再調整しましょう。
4. 本体の底が割と温かくなるので、ひざの上に乗せて使う場合は、汗の対策をしたほうがよいでしょう。

音を作ればかなり使いやすい

プリセットのパターンと音色は色んなジャンルで用意されてるものの、ほぼバリバリのロックパターンで打ち込み感が結構あってあまり使えません。
ただし、自分でドラムセットを作り、音量調整をし、パターンを自分で作ればほぼほぼ何の曲でも表現できリズムマシンにしては自然な感じです。
簡単なのが一番良いところです。
スネアのブラシ音があれば最高でしたがそれはなかったです。
