■The microKORG is a unique, compact, and authentic synthesizer that pursues the true joy of creating sound with a synthesizer. The sound generator section features a DSP-based analog modeling system, acclaimed by musicians in the ELECTRIBE series and MS2000. Based on eight oscillator algorithms, including sawtooth and square waves typical of analog synthesizers, each section on the front panel allows for flexible sound creation. Each section consists of an oscillator, filter, amplifier, modulation, and effects. Simply switching between sections and turning the corresponding knobs allows for intuitive editing. You can even change the sound in real time while you're playing, making the microKORG ideal for a wide range of situations, from live performances to recording.
■ The microKORG has two oscillators (OSC1 and OSC2) per voice. OSC1 offers basic analog waveforms such as sawtooth, square, and sine, as well as VOX Wave, which captures the formants of the human voice, and DWGS (64 digital waveforms), a style exemplified by the legendary KORG DW-8000 digital synthesizer. Even with just basic analog waveforms, you can intricately transform them using the waveform control parameters. Furthermore, by utilizing modulation (ring and sync) with OSC2, which has three basic analog waveforms, you can easily create extremely complex sounds using just the oscillator. External input sounds can also be treated in the same way as the built-in oscillators, and can be processed using the internal filters.
■The microKORG's multi-mode filter offers four selectable types: two low-pass filters (-12dB/-24dB), a band-pass filter, and a high-pass filter. These exceptionally sharp filters, with resonance also allowing you to freely emphasize harmonic components, allow you to create a wide variety of sounds exactly as you imagine them, from traditional fat sounds to sharp dance sounds.
