The Bass Station II is a completely redesigned analog synthesizer based on the Bass Station, the analog synthesizer that made the Novation brand famous and is still popular today.
In addition to great bass sounds, it can also produce sharp lead sounds and light arpeggio sounds. In addition, the newly equipped modulation, effects, and filters can be used to create a more powerful sound than the original Bass Station.
The signal path is purely analog, including the effects section. The main parameters such as knobs, switches, sliders, and buttons are laid out on the front for easy operation.
In addition, it is equipped with 64 factory presets and a user preset area, and you can save and load sounds you have created yourself using the librarian software, as well as Sound Packs, a collection of presets provided by Novation. Synth Engine Overview
Oscillator:
Equipped with three analog oscillators and a noise generator. Consisting of two completely independent oscillators and one sub-oscillator, it produces a rich analog synth bass sound. Oscillators 1 and 2 generate various pulse width waveforms such as sine, sawtooth, and square, while the sub-oscillator, oscillator 3, generates square, sine, or narrow pulse width waveforms one or two octaves below oscillator 1. This allows you to get a distinctive and thick bass sound.
Filters:
Two discrete analog filters provide a traditional effect, as well as a diode-based filter for a "303"-like acid sound. The filter with overdrive can be set to three modes: high pass, low pass, and band pass, and can be set to a gentle curve of 12dB or a sharp curve of 24dB.
Effects:
In addition to the filter overdrive, there are two effects. The analog distortion is useful for adding warmth and 5th harmonics. The other effect, 'Osc Filter Mod', creates an effect similar to a special FM modulation using the oscillators, which is useful for making bass and lead sounds thicker.
Modulation:
Two envelope generators and two LFOs are provided for more colorful and lively sounds. The first envelope operates on the ADSR amplitude, while the second acts as a modulation envelope for filter frequency, oscillator pitch and pulse width. The two LFOs with four LFO waveforms provide modulation effects on oscillator pitch, pulse width and filter frequency, respectively, and a special 'LFO Slew' parameter allows you to vary the LFO waveform to create more colorful and distinctive modulation shapes.
Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer:
32 rhythmic arpeggio patterns with freely adjustable octave range and arpeggio direction. The step sequencer can handle up to four sequences, which can be set as one of the 32 rhythmic patterns.
