The essence of ZOIA is a ""full-featured modular pedal system"" in the form of a pedal. This is a revolutionary instrument that allows you to combine the functions of various modules like ""Lego blocks"" to build a variety of music production tools such as virtual pedal boards, modular synthesizers, loopers, and sequencers in your own style.

The modules are arranged on an 8x5 button grid, and each module consists of multiple parameters. Each parameter provides access to specific functionality of the module via a grid of buttons. Inputs and outputs between buttons can be freely patched together like a modular synthesizer.

A button grid represents one page within a patch (buttons can span multiple pages). Saving a patch allows you to save all modules, parameters and connections to ZOIA's internal memory. You can create any number of new patches and navigate with stomp switches.

If you know a lot about guitar effects but don't have much experience with synthesizers, you may find ZOIA difficult, but don't worry. This is because guitar effects and modular synths have a similar structure. For example, a tremolo effect is nothing more than a VCA (voltage-controlled amplifier) ​​controlled by an LFO (low-frequency oscillator). A delay effect is a circuit that delays the input signal and returns part of it to the input to generate a repeat sound.Use an LFO to slightly modulate the delay time to add pleasant fluctuations, and add a filter to the feedback loop to reproduce the warmth of the delay sound, and you'll be able to create a vintage tape delay emulation in no time.

ZOIA already has a large number of completed effect modules, but you can freely design and assemble your own effect module if you wish.

Rather than thinking of ZOIA as just a pedal, it's probably more accurate to think of it as a ""platform"". With ZOIA, you can build effects, synthesizers, music tools, and instruments in your own unique style.
