New colors are now available in the Acoustune Monitor series “RS ONE”! These are the brand's first stage monitor earphones that combine high durability and monitoring performance.
■ Highly robust body that is resistant to shock, heat and sweat
The number of parts has been kept to a minimum, and thorough research was carried out into the parts of the earphones that are most likely to break, based on market research, to achieve a highly robust body. The housing is made up of two parts, and uses polycarbonate, which is highly resistant to shock, weather and heat. By making the housing simple and increasing the rigidity of each component, the risk of failure in harsh environments is greatly reduced. The faceplate plays a role in increasing the rigidity of the body while also expressing the identity of the ear monitor. In addition, the small body makes it a housing design that can be used by anyone.
The ‘Mirinx EL Driver’ combines high input power performance with high acoustic performance
As a brand based on its unique dynamic driver, Acoustune uses ‘Mirinx’, a polymer biomaterial used in artificial skin and surgical sutures, as the diaphragm material. By thinning this Mylinx and optimising it for use in the driver structure, the resulting diaphragm is lightweight yet also has high strength and flexibility, and it reproduces music with excellent transient characteristics, high resolution and a wide dynamic range. For the RS ONE, which was designed as a stage monitor, we have made use of our Mylinx driver know-how to develop a new Mylinx EL driver for the RS ONE. The Mirinx EL driver achieves more accurate monitoring than a standard Mirinx driver. The material used in the Mirinx EL driver is a super-high-performance resin that is used in medical applications, but is also lightweight, extremely rigid, and boasts excellent acoustic performance with high internal loss. The high internal loss reduces unwanted incidental sound and enhances monitoring performance. In order to make the most of the Mirinx EL driver, a large back cavity is secured behind the diaphragm, and by placing a distance between the diaphragm and the grille, high input resistance is achieved, which means that even after a maximum of 250mW* of signal is inputted momentarily, it can still be used normally. This gives the earphone speakers a robustness that makes them less likely to break even if there is a sudden loud input, such as feedback, on stage. The large stroke range of the diaphragm gives a live sound that is almost like a loudspeaker, but the accuracy of the in-ear monitor sound coexists, making it possible to achieve excellent monitoring on stage.
Impedance design matched to wireless in-ear monitor system
Stage monitors are mainly used in combination with wireless in-ear monitor systems. If the impedance of the in-ear monitor system and the earphones do not match, there are cases where it becomes difficult to adjust the volume, or the characteristics of the earphones change, reducing monitoring performance. In order to avoid these problems, RS ONE thoroughly reduces compatibility issues with in-ear monitor systems by accurately matching the impedance.
■Newly developed cables ‘ARM011’ and ‘Pentaconn Ear Long-Type’
The newly developed ‘ARM011’ cable is used for the RS ONE. It uses a 4-core structure with high-purity Litz wire and Kevlar wire woven into the cable, and a PU material sheath is used to improve handling. By twisting this, it becomes a strong cable that is flexible and easy to handle, but also resistant to kinks and difficult to break. The plug is a straight type, chosen for compatibility with ear monitor systems. The connector is the new IEM connector ‘Pentaconn Ear’ connector, which boasts high sound quality and reliability, designed and produced by DIX Corporation. The plug and jack parts make more intimate contact than with conventional MMCX connectors, and the design also achieves both ease of attachment and removal and robustness, as well as superior conductivity. Furthermore, the RS ONE uses the ‘Pentaconn Ear Long-Type’ connector, which is embedded in the body and has a structure that makes it difficult for sweat to enter the connector, as a measure against sweat, which is important for stage monitors. Compared to other connectors, it reduces the risk of wear and tear from use and poor contact due to sweat, and reduces the risk of accidents in professional environments. In addition, even if the cable breaks, it is easy to replace the cable, making it suitable for live environments.
AET earbuds for a high-quality fit and acoustic experience
