The ADI-2/4 Pro SE (Special Edition) is RME's new flagship high-end converter, developed based on feedback from many users and the developers' desire to further advance audio. With significant hardware enhancements, its precision, quality, performance, and thoughtful feature set have evolved to be flexible, powerful, and reliable for all professionals. Only RME remains faithful to its development philosophy of conveying the intended sound in its entirety, adding nothing, subtracting nothing, and delivering the ultimate in sound quality.

The new circuit board, enhanced specifications, and accelerated DSP deliver outstanding transparency, while the Extreme Power headphone amplifier is IEM-compatible, and the new ultra-low-noise 4.4mm 5-pole balanced headphone connection (with Pentaconn), two balanced inputs, and a True Balanced mode provide the ultimate in sound quality. Rear XLR/TRS outputs allow for independent source outputs for mastering and external effects setups, enhanced power supply for high-power, noiseless operation, and trigger on/off capability for external devices. The ADI-2/4 Pro SE is also equipped with a trigger out function that can turn on/off the power supply for external devices, and a RIAA mode that enables direct digitization of vinyl records.

Finely engineered sound capture and playback
The ADI-2/4 Pro SE has a special story behind every design to achieve true reference sound. The main PCB (board) is made of 10 layers of custom thickness copper. This allows for a compact size, yet still provides the best possible functionality, individual power supplies for the headphone outputs, and the most ideal noise-free environment possible. The internal power stage and precision regulator are designed for ultra-low noise without compromising performance. The carefully selected “SoundPlus” operational amplifiers provide the highest SNR, lowest THD, and highest slew rate under all conditions, and the entire analog circuitry is designed with perfect symmetry, balance, and DC coupling. The only capacitor in the signal path has been carefully selected to protect DC at the analog input socket and avoid any effect on sound.

This 4-channel AD converter is a dual mono design and supports up to 768kH and DSD recording/playback. Internal audio processing, including EQ, crossfeed, and spectral analyzer, is handled by a DSP chip configured for 2.17 Giga FLOPS (2882 MIPS), plus an FPGA for further computation ( RME custom virtual DSPs used for mixing/routing, level meters, filters, and crossfeeds are also included. This allows even 768 kHz work to be done without overloading the computer.
