The Ultimate Physical Modeling Bass Sound Source
After eight long years of joint research and development between the University of Padua, one of the oldest universities in Europe, and IK, which has steadily built up a track record in analog modeling technology for guitar amps and effects, we are proud to present this virtual instrument product. The sound is realistic. The sound is as realistic and authentic as if played by an accomplished bassist, and you get it with this latest virtual instrument.
MODO BASS is based on an entirely new technology that redefines the virtual instrumentation of computer bass. MODO BASS is not a sampled bass instrument but a sound source based on physical modeling, where the sound synthesis is done in real-time based on a physical model of all aspects of the final bass sound. First, the bass itself is modeled as an instrument. Not only the body material, strings, pickups, and wiring that make up the bass but also their interactions are modeled. In addition, various playing techniques, amplifiers, and effects are modeled. The sound is then synthesized in real time based on these physical models of the actual instrument's characteristics and playing techniques.
Real-time sound synthesis
The MODO BASS sound engine is based on a new technology called real-time
modal synthesis. This allows you to play MODO BASS with the same response and feel as if you were playing a real instrument.
In the case of sample-based instruments, this means playing sample data that captures a particular moment in the performance. To express detailed nuances, it is necessary to have a large amount of sample data that captures various nuances, and it is required to switch between them. Unfortunately, given the limitations of computer storage capacity, the ability to express oneself as an instrument is inevitably limited.
Based on a physical model, the MODO BASS can be played just as if you were playing a real instrument instead of data recorded as samples. The sound is synthesized in real-time, so the same data is not played back every time. Even if the MIDI data used for the performance is precisely the same, the sound is played with slightly different nuances each time. The interaction of the physical model of the instrument, pickups, and playing technique with the performance results in a thick, visceral bass sound that is pleasant to play and, unlike conventional physical modeling sound sources, in a sense, a "sensual" sound.

## Long-awaited fretless bass support
Two new fretless bass models join the MODO BASS lineup. The "Fretless Jazz," a reference to the Fender Jazz Bass customized by Jaco Pastorius, has an instantly recognizable tone and dynamics. The "Fretless Bass Man," a reference to Pino Palladino's famous Music Man StingRay, offers the bass sound of Paul Young, Don Henley, and others. In addition to these two new fretless basses, MODO BASS 2 can also model 18 other electric basses as fretless models.
#### Upright basses are also available.
Along with the fretless model, an upright bass, which existing MODO BASS users have requested, has also been added. Two models are available to suit your musical style: the Upright Studio, which references the wood bass used in classic jazz, and the Rockabilly, which references a nylon-string double bass ideal for slap-heavy Rockabilly!
### Pattern playing function
## Added Pattern Playing Function
MODO BASS 2 now has a "PATTERNS" screen with intelligent filters that allow you to browse by various criteria such as genre, song section, playing style, length, and beat. From patterns for bass tracks that support a song to solo phrases, you can audition each pattern to find the one you need. The MODO BASS is often said to have a "human touch even when played solidly," but each phrase in the "PATTERNS" is recorded from a professional bass player's performance, so you can play back the rawest, best groove and feel, in sync with the DAW's tempo. The latest system requirements are as follows.
