The culmination of 50 years of analog design packed into a 1U rack size. BritStrip will impress today's engineers with its iconic recording sound.

BritStrip is a channel strip that combines the self-explanatory 73 mic preamp, an extended 73 equalizer, a discrete Class A DI, and the Successor's famous diode bridge compressor. To get close to this configuration, you would chain a 73JR, a 73EQJR, and a mono Successor, but this is more cost-effective and has more routing flexibility.

A mic preamp that fits all your needs
The sound of BritStrip starts with the same preamp section as the 73JR. It features custom input and output transformers designed in collaboration with Carnhill, and an all-discrete, Class A, three-gain stage configuration.

It features up to 80dB of gain, a 20dB pad, phase inversion, and a 1200Ω/300Ω input impedance switch.

DI with Discrete Class A Circuit
The DI section also uses the highly acclaimed design of the 73JR. An all-discrete Class A JFET circuit is placed in front of the microphone transformer to provide all the character you want. It also has a passive through output, so you can connect it to another amplifier.

Extended 73 Equalizer
The equalizer section uses three Vinkor pot core inductors for the mid band and high pass filter. The highlight here is that even extreme boosts are very musical.

The mid band is perfect for expressing thick, punchy snares, kicks, guitars, and vocals, and it doesn't sound gradual or lose headroom even at extreme settings. The inductor-based low pass filter, designed after the 73, allows you to control the low end outside of its range without affecting the quality of the desired frequencies.

High and low shelf now have bell modes, making them even more versatile than ever.

Successor-inspired compressor
The diode bridge-based compressor in BritStrip is the same as the award-nominated Successor, so there's no need to introduce it here. Classic diode bridge compression gets a whole new life with Successor's extended features and incredibly fast attack and release times.

The blend control and sophisticated sidechain filter make this compressor perfect for tracking - it gives performers the time-honored dynamics they want in their monitor sound, expanding the possibilities for recording even further.

The sidechain filter with five frequency options and an external sidechain input give you incredible flexibility. Of course, you can also link two BritStrips compressors for the ultimate stereo tracking solution.

Routing Flexibility
BritStrip allows you to change the routing of the compression and equalization. If you place the equalization before the compression, the compression detector will be more sensitive to boosted frequencies and less sensitive to cut frequencies. Conversely, if you place the equalization after the compression, the detector will be less sensitive to the equalization settings.
