This model was created to meet Paul Gilbert's request for a pickup that could handle all of Mr. Big's performances, which include a wide variety of musical styles. The magnets used are a combination of alnico and neodymium, so that the volume can be balanced with the neck/bridge pickups even when the pickup is set low so as not to interfere with picking.
