The BAE / ROYALTONE is a fuzz pedal that explores the possibilities of vintage English fuzz. It has an independent fuzz circuit and a 3-band tone circuit, which can be turned on/off individually. It has a tone bender-style fuzz sound as its base, but it also allows for a variety of uses and tone making.

　Youtubeで本機とHOT FUZZを聴き比べ、安全安牌なそうな方（=BAE HOT FUZZ）を先に購入したのですが、これが実際鳴らしてみるとFuzzっぽくはあるものの、結構ディストーション寄りで70年代のハードロックみたいなサウンドだったため、すぐに手放してしまいました。（BOOST SWもレンジマスターのような古臭いブーストではなく、MIDが強調された80年代に流行ったようなサウンドになるだけでした。）もちろん、この手のサウンドが好きな方もいると思いますが、個人的には扱いづらかったです。
　その後、Benson Germanium Fuzzという、Fuzz Faceにヒーター等を組み込み、安定したゲルマサウンドが出せるという代物を購入。これはこれでかなり満足だったのですが、気になっていた本機が再入荷されたのを知り、勢いでこれも購入。Youtubeではちょっとうるさい印象だったため正直それほど期待していなかったのですが……大当たりでした。。
　傾向としては安定感があって抜けるTonebenderMk1と暴れん坊なMk2の良いとこ取りといったところで、さらにHOT FUZZでは気に入らなかったTONE SWも変な癖がなく、かといってHiFiなEQとも異なる、抜けの良いブースターとしても活用可能で、フェンダー、マーシャル、VOX等でクランチを作っておけばもうこれ一つで何もいらないんじゃないかっていうくらい、フレキシブルに機能します。また、FuzzfaceやTonebenderのようにギターのボリュームにもしっかり追従します。
　ここ10年くらいはQ3のバイアスをいじった自作のTonebenderMk1がNo.1だったのですが、30年近いFuzz巡りにやっと終止符が打てそうです。ゲルマのFuzzfaceやTonebenderMk1,1.5,Mk2が好きだけど、当たりの機種に出会ったことが無い、もうちょい抜けてくれればメインで使うんだけど、、って思っている方、♪×9くらいおすすめです。
