From Kawai's Shigeru Kawai grand piano series, the new Shigeru Kawai features the SK-EX concert grand piano and the SK-5 mid-sized grand piano. It also includes the Kawai Concert Grand Piano EX, the piano actually played in the world's most prestigious piano competition, the International Chopin Piano Competition, for a total of three built-in grand piano sounds.

For these piano recordings, Kawai, with its deep piano expertise, carefully selected the finest pianos possible and had them meticulously tuned by a top-tier tuner (MPA). Each of these 88 keys was meticulously recorded to deliver uncompromising piano sound. The HI-XL sound source delivers smooth transitions in tone from soft to hard strikes, minimal chord muddiness, and a long decay time for realistic piano sounds, fully expressing the instrument's quality.
●256 Voices with a Wide Variety
The 256 built-in voices are divided into eight categories. (Categories: Piano, E Piano, Drawbar, Organ, Strings/Vocal, Brass/Horn Section, Pad/Synth, Bass/Guitar) Each sound category is further divided into eight subcategories, each of which is further divided into four variations. (8 categories x 8 subcategories x 4 variations = 256 sounds)

This systematic tone group organization allows you to quickly change tones even during live performances and see the currently selected tone at a glance. Tone parameters are displayed on the central LCD, and you can adjust tone and effect parameters while playing by turning the knobs. In addition, users can pre-assign their preferred parameters to display on the screen.

●Tweak the piano sound to your liking with the Virtual Technician function
The exceptional skills of a skilled piano tuner are essential to bringing out the full potential of a concert grand piano. Not only does it precisely tune the tone, but it also adjusts various tones to ensure the piano plays authentic music.

The Virtual Technician function simulates the tuner's adjustments to alter the character of the piano's tone. You can adjust various parameters in real time, such as the weight of the touch, hammer hardness, key release noise, string resonance, lid opening/closing, and damper resonance.

Virtual Technician can also be used with electric pianos. You can create a vintage sound or a brand new, factory-fresh sound.

●Equipped with an Amp Simulator
The tonal character of the amp and cabinet is an important factor in determining the tone of a vintage electric piano. Using the amp simulator, you can play with a warm, rich analog tone.

In addition to five amp types, you can also precisely control the drive level and volume, and the instrument is also equipped with equalizer and tone editing functions. You can also adjust the type and placement of microphones used to capture the amp sound, as well as the volume of distant stereo microphones. The amp simulator allows for infinite combinations, bringing even more fun to vintage electric piano sounds.
