This revolutionary mobile microphone/interface simply clips onto the sound hole of your acoustic guitar or ukulele, enabling you to capture sound that rivals that of a high-end studio microphone. Featuring a cutting-edge MEMS microphone, it captures the rich, full-bodied sound of your guitar or ukulele.

Designed to capture the expressive acoustic guitar sound that would otherwise require the help of a skilled recording engineer, iRig Acoustic features a cutting-edge omnidirectional MEMS microphone. Simply clip it onto the sound hole of your acoustic guitar or ukulele with a clip that supports instruments up to 4mm thick, and it captures a wide frequency range from 15 Hz to 20 kHz. It captures every detail of an acoustic instrument, from its complex overtones to the resonance between the strings and body.

Instead of the piezo or magnetic pickups commonly used when connecting an acoustic guitar or ukulele to a line, it uses a microphone powered by cutting-edge MEMS (Micro Electrical-Mechanical System) technology (a cutting-edge technology that integrates mechanical movement and structural elements onto a tiny microchip). Mounting this compact, omnidirectional MEMS microphone with an accurate and flat frequency response inside the sound hole enables the capture of a guitar sound with a rich presence that was previously difficult to capture with pickups that only picked up the vibrations of the strings and body. The iRig Acoustic's clip, which can accommodate guitars up to 4mm thick, is made of soft rubber, making it easy to attach and remove without worrying about scratching your precious instrument.

For audio input and output, the iRig Acoustic uses a 4-pole mini jack (1/8"" TRRS), similar to the earphone microphone included with the iPhone. It's compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The iRig Acoustic's stereo mini headphone output jack can be connected not only to earphones and headphones, but also to IK's iLoud portable studio monitor speaker or a live PA mixer.

アコースティック・ギターの録音をこれまでないほど手軽に、高音質で楽しめるピックアップ兼インターフェイスが、この「iRig Acoustic」です。セッティングはいたって簡単、柔らかいゴム素材でできたトライアングル・ピック型のユニットをサウンドホールに挟み込むだけです。「こんなに簡単で、はたして音質はどうなんだろう？」と正直、はじめは期待と不安が半々でした。しかし、いざ弾いてみると、非常にアコギらしい豊かでナチュラルな音色！ちゃんとボディの鳴りまで捉えられていて、「すごい！」と素直に感心してしまいました。秘密はピエゾともマグネットとも違う、最新テクノロジーを使用したMEMSマイクロフォンだそうです。つまり高性能なマイクで音を拾うので、繊細なニュアンスまでしっかり捉えてくれるんですね。
本製品はiPhone、iPadなどiOSデバイス専用となっています。iOSのDAWアプリとして有名な「GarageBand」も最近、同じApple製で、プロに使用者も多いMac専用のDAWソフト「Logic Pro」へのプロジェクト移行ができるようになったりと、技術の進化に伴いスマホのDAWアプリとPC/Mac上のDAWソフトの距離は着実に縮まってきています。これからアプリ上で出来ることもますます増えていくと思うので、楽しみですね。アコギを使ったモバイル・レコーディングに興味がある方には間違いなくオススメできるアイテムです。
