- Winner of both a 2001 TEC Award and Electronic Musician magazine's 2001 Editor's Choice Award, the Dragonfly is a unique pressure gradient cardioid condenser microphone featuring a handmade, single-membrane, large-diaphragm capsule made of 6-micron Mylar film coated with pure gold and aluminum. Encased in a rotating spherical grille, the capsule can be positioned and adjusted in a minimal space. Featuring an integrated, resilient shock mount, the microphone's electronics are based on Class A discrete circuitry and feature a transformerless output.

The Dragonfly's sonic character truly soars on everything from vocals and percussion, electric guitar and bass, to even more challenging sources like saxophone and string instruments.

使えるマイク

購入から10年といったところ。
いまさらのレビューだが、一時期レコーディングに凝った時期があり、
「ハンドメイドのクラスAラージダイアフラム」がどんな感じなのか知りたくて購入。
もともと制作現場にいたのでコンデンサの威力は知っていたが、
宅録レベルでは予算も限られており、ノイマンには手が出せなかったというのもある。
価格的にはちょうどよい感じだった。
もちろんスタジオでノイマンは使ったことがあるが、blueは当時あまりなかった。
（今でもあまりないかな）
とにかく何を録ってもよくとれる。
プリアンプはTASCAM、ケーブルはベルデンだが必要十分。
今でもスタジオで使うことがあるが、良いマイクだと実感させられる。
低価格のものもいくつか持っているが、やはりレンジが違う。
多用したのは実はギター録りで、ケトナーMK2＋marshall1960をマイク録り。
ダイナミックだと特徴は捉えるものの聴感に近いキャビ自体の鳴りまで拾うのは至難の業。
今では主流だが当時からダイナミックとコンデンサ混ぜたり、マイキングを変えたものをかぶせたり。
当時はあまりアンプシュミレータが良くなくて、やっぱり納得できるのはマイク録りだった。
商品説明に記載はないが最大SPL：138dBあるので、まったく問題ない。
IRは優秀だがどれを選ぶかが重要なので、まずはマイク録りを試してそれに近いものを選択するのが良い。
そもそもの鳴りを知らないと結局スタジオやライブで「音が悪い」という
見当違いな評価になってしまう。
このマイクの最大の特徴はカプセルが回転できること。
スタンドの設定を変えずに入力角度が変えられるので、微妙なセッティングが可能となる。
また単一指向性なので狙い通りに録れるのも使い勝手が良い。
