This treble booster is based on the Range Master, produced between 1965 and 1969. It uses the OC76 transistor. Its smooth, warm sound is perfect for blues. The guitar volume control lets you control everything from lead tones to crunch sounds.

■The RM Velvet is a model that answers the demands of many players seeking the perfect blues machine. Using OC76 transistors, which have a smoother, silkier sound than the OC44, it produces a warm, rounded sound that's perfect for blues.
■The RM series is a faithful reproduction of the original Range Master, manufactured in Dallas, England, from 1965 to 1969. The Range Master was a favorite of Eric Clapton, from John Mayall's Blues Breakers to Cream. Its powerful tone can be heard on the Blues Breakers album ""Beano."" Many other musicians, including Rory Gallagher, Tony Iommi, and Brian May, also used the Range Master.
■ RM Velvet produces a smooth, warm, almost velvet-like sound that's perfect for blues. It was designed for guitars with relatively low- to mid-inductance pickups (Fender, Gretsch, Burns, Gibson, etc.). Using RM Velvet with such pickups and turning up the guitar's volume control produces a thick, bitey lead tone without harshness. Turning down the guitar's volume produces a crunch tone with varying amounts of distortion, depending on the volume. While turning up the amp's volume (to the point of distortion or saturation) can result in a loss of high frequencies and a loose sound, RM Velvet produces a natural sound. Therefore, the amp's presence control is rarely necessary.
■ When using vintage amps (Fender Deluxe, Fender Bassman, Vox AC30, Marshall JTM 45, Marshall Plexi, etc.), a high-quality treble booster can be used to great effect.
