This round (conical) replacement stylus for the OM NIGHTCLUB record stylus is ideal for four-on-the-floor dance music. Compared to the oval stylus in the same series, the stylus tip does not penetrate as deeply into the record groove, making it ideal for scratching and cueing.

*The Ortofon Stylus series can be used with both Concorde (MK1) and OM cartridges. Concorde/OM cartridges can be used with different replacement stylus models, but this may result in reduced cartridge performance or noise.

*The difference between elliptical and conical stylus shapes is the difference. For example, both Ortofon Stylus DJs can be used as replacement styluses for Concorde (or OM) DJs. Generally, conical styluses are considered more stable and less prone to skipping, while elliptical styluses are more focused on sound quality. While there isn't a significant difference between the two, we recommend conical styluses for scratching and elliptical styluses for house and other genres where sound quality is important.

鳴りのいい低音だが高音が耳につく

Ortofon Concorde Night Clubといえば、「音質を重視した設計」という商品説明がなされていた、一昔前のDJ達のステータスカートリッジ。現在は出力アップしたMk IIに換わっているが、交換針はまだ購入できる。
カンチレバーはProと同じ太さである。材質の違いは見た目からは分からないが、若干光沢が異なるようにも見える。チップはProと同じ接合ダイヤ。ダンパーが硬いものに変更されているのが特徴で、恐らくDJユースの重い針圧に耐えながら、製品寿命を伸ばすための工夫だろう。ダンパーの変更によって音も大きく代わり、カマボコ型だったProに比べて、低音の厚みが格段に増している。ベースや腹に響く重低音が充実するから、クラブでの音出しは素晴らしい。しかしこの針は高音域にアクセントがあり、非常に聴き疲れしやすい傾向がある。また、元来の低音の鳴りの良さと高音のアクセントによって、中音域が引っ込んだドンシャリな印象を与えてしまう。この針は音響設備のよく整った環境で使用しないと、魅力が激減してしまう針であるから、個人的に一般のリスナーにはお勧めしない。
ちなみにカートリッジ本体はProやDJ Sなどと共通なので、製品スペックを見ながら同じインダクタンスのものに差し込めば、憧れのNight Clubを再現できる。また、交換針には楕円針仕様のものもあるが、音の傾向は円錐針と変わらない。特別に高音域のレンジを伸ばしたい要求がなければ、レコードの汚れや内周部の歪みに強い円錐針で良いだろう。
