Drum AI from Sony CSL
Backbone 1.5 features DrumGAN, an innovative drum generator developed by Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. (Sony CSL). Based on AI, DrumGAN quickly and intuitively generates new kick, snare, and cymbal samples, and can also analyze and create variations on samples. DrumGAN is a powerful addition to Backbone, allowing you to create entirely new drum sounds without leaving the familiar sample editing environment you're familiar with.
AI creates, you design.
After the AI creates new kick, snare, and cymbal sounds, you can further edit them using Backbone's extensive suite of familiar tools. Decompose, layer, resynthesize, and apply various features to drum samples to create your own unique sound. If you like a particular sound but aren't completely satisfied, DrumGAN can quickly generate variations in the same style.
DrumGAN: by Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc.
A research team at Sony CSL, consisting of Javier Nistal and Stefan Lattner, has developed a new drum sound generation system using Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). DrumGAN uses a novel method to generate drum sounds based on a diverse collection of kick, snare, and cymbal sounds. The result is an exceptional system for producing expressive and musical drum sounds. Now, Sony CSL and Steinberg have collaborated to implement this technology in Backbone, bringing new and unique sample-based drum sounds to musicians around the world.
