This vacuum tube condenser microphone, designed to produce the most beautiful vintage sound, was jointly developed by EMI/Abbey Road Studios in the UK and Chandler Limited in the US, which has an equipment development partnership with the studio.

By uniquely combining a traditional large-diaphragm, high-end condenser microphone with the REDD.47 vacuum tube microphone preamp card from the studio's signature vintage console, we've achieved a beautiful, rich sound and tone that's completely different from the Neumann U-type clones that are prevalent around the world, and that firmly inherits the legend and history of Abbey Road Studios/EMI.

Chandler Limited's chief designer, Wade Goeke, and the engineers at Abbey Road Studios spent a great deal of time pursuing a microphone that would represent the legendary Abbey Road Studios' reference sound.

This unique fusion of a traditional large-diaphragm vacuum tube condenser microphone and the studio's signature console, the REDD.47 mic preamp, delivers a beautiful, rich sound and tone that's distinct from the Neumann U-type clones that abound worldwide, and firmly embodies the legend and history of Abbey Road Studios/EMI.

The built-in REDD.47 mic preamp amplifies the weak signal immediately after the diaphragm without routing it anywhere. This allows for a lossless, pure signal to be recorded, rather than amplifying it via a microphone cable to a remote microphone amplifier. The REDD MICROPHONE's distinctive sound is its full-bodied sound, accurately conveying the artist's breath, and its smooth, detailed top end. It's already used daily as Abbey Road Studios' ""first call"" microphone, recording a multitude of top artists.

By setting the gain of the built-in REDD.47 mic preamp to minimum, you can use this microphone through another mic preamp as usual, and even in that case, the sound is more than beautiful enough.

The legendary REDD vacuum tube console, which was used on The Beatles' albums, owes its sound quality to the REDD.47 preamp, an upgraded version of the Telefunken V72S amplifier module.

The REDD MICROPHONE boasts a REDD.47 preamp card built right into the microphone body! Pre-gain can be adjusted in nine steps from +4 to +33 dB, and ""DRIVE"" mode adds even more musical color and texture.

Because it amplifies the weak signal immediately after the diaphragm without routing it anywhere, it records a pure signal without any loss, compared to using a microphone cable and amplifying it at a remote microphone amplifier. The REDD MICROPHONE's sound is characterized by a full-bodied sound that accurately conveys the artist's breath, and a smooth, detailed top end. It is already used daily at Abbey Road Studios as the ""first call"" microphone for recordings by some of the biggest names in music.

By setting the gain of the built-in REDD.47 microphone preamp to minimum, it can be used via other microphone preamps as usual, and the microphone's sound remains more than beautiful even in this case.
